Upgrading Brakes Advice

  1. #1
So its coming to the time where i need new rear discs, so i thought i would just upgrade the brakes but i am not sure what to upgrade to, i was thinking PEUGEOT 206 GTi, any thing else looking into. Also am I write in thinking i will need calipers, discs and pads that would all for example be PEUGEOT 206 GTi. In a nut shell what would the best upgrade be?

they are the same size as the saxo.

hmm will i need to get some 205 GTi Braided Front Brake Pipes also?

Ok so i am learning as I go here, but for the full upgrade i am looking at 206 gti front and rear calipers and the pads to match, 205 (206) GTi Braided Front and Rear Brake Pipes, 206 GTi 180 GROOVED BRAKE DISCS Front & Rear. right? lol

leave the rears. just upgrade the front.

206 and 307 brakes are used a lot.

just use the saxo braided hoses aswell.

O ok cool, so just get the calipers and discs for the front, and some standard or groved saxo discs for the back. Sounds good and cheaper than getting full set, any reason for leaving the rear saxo ones the same mate, and thanx for posting dude

The majority of braking is done on the front

also, you cant get any bigger 'standard' rear brakes. no need to to upgrade them either. just use plain discs and good pads.

The best value for money conversion that you could do would be from a pug gti-6 or a pug 206 gti 180. You can pick these both up for £200 for calipers, disks and pads and will usually fit straight on without any alterations.

Dont discount using the calipers from a berlingo or partner van as well.

Ive got a 266mm setup on mine, callipers from a berlingo van, discs and pads from buypartsby.com and braided brake hoses for the saxo.

all together it cost me about £150, fitted it myself, which is quite straight forward to do.

the 206 gti 180 will probably cost more only down to the fact they came off a "performance" car.

pretty sure the berlingo brakes are the same as the 206gti ones
like said best and most effective choices are
266mm brakes - 206gti, berlingo calipers and probably more - for 14inch wheels
    and 283mm brakes - 206gti 180, 306 gti-6 calipers and again probably more - for 15inch wheels

I agree to a certain extent with others, the rear wont need touching at all
but if you uprate your front ones like I have its nice to spice things up a bit
    on the rear too.

Ive gone with just uprated discs and pads with the rear on mine, discs are
grooved and drilled. Ive left the rear calipers as they are.

i upgraded my brakes just by fitting grooved and drilled ebc ventilated discs on both front and rear and use ebc green stuff pads. Its just the ticket for me, i noticed a huge difference as i found the brakes a bit of a let down with the sax, but not now!!
And the best bit is it didn`t cost a fortune.....just a small one!!!

    EBC are pure shit imo.

that probably cost you more than some 307 brakes would have cost aswell.

    agree.

did you honestly feel a big diff, or were your pads and discs totally knackered before?
