Quick driveshaft query

Has anyone fitted a non-ABS driveshaft to a car, which has ABS?

My ABS is disconnected, so I dont need the pickup ring... but Ive been supplied with a VTS driveshaft which does not have the abs pickup ring.

It looks identical, except that the pickup ring is misisng. This makes the diameter of the end of the butt joint slightly smaller... but I cant see if this will matter or not... I dont think it will really.

So.. has anyone fitted a non abs shaft and its bolted up tightly?

Dopnt want to fit it if it wont mate properly, as the wrong part has bene supplied. (ie, different to what i asked ofr when purchasing)

Quick yay/nay would be appreciated, as Im about to whack the shaft into the hub

aslong as it has the same style splines on it it should go on no probs. never fitted 1 though.

I'll take a pic for reference.. then whack it on.

Looks like the pickup ring only hammers onto the end of the shaft anyway.. so could sort it.

Damn car prep for track sessions suck

i have never tried to fit one but i am sure the splines are the same.

thats reminds me when i had a flywheel at work before that came without teeth on it i had to heat the old one up to expend it and the ring with teeth on came off then had to keep it hot while i fitted onto the new one and as it cooled it retracted on. maybe its simular on the d/s

Probably is heat shrunk on Steve... I'm going to leave it off anyway.

Difference is minor and Im sure the bearings for VTR/'VTS are the same anyway.. so the mating faces shouldnt matter on the outer diameter.

Will know in a few minutes anyway

    Some pics for future reference...

ABS and non-ABS driveshaft for drivers side.

Difference in outer diameter if pickup ring were NOT present - indicated by red area.

    It fits

Not road tested yet, but all clamped up and rotation/wiggle checks are perfect.
