206 turbo

  1. #1
hi everyone i'm new to this site and dont really own a saxo but like i mentioned to the mod, there is no good peugeot websites as good as this one, now to the thread!!!!!!!!!

I've just turbo'd my 206 1.4 8v (TU3 engine) but having a few problems really so just thought you saxo guru's on here could give me a few pointers, i'm runing a 5th injector but seen to be smelling a lot of fuel after i've been out in the car for a while its wired up with the live from the coil pack and earthed out on an earth point but goes into a i think you call it a vacuum fuel switch basically it switches the injector on and off depending on the amount of boost thats in the intake manifold but i dont think it is setup right and was wondering if anyone could give me a few tips to help set it up or list another way to run the 5th injector or do i really need it if i was to run 4 oversized injectors instead thanks.

    CAR SPEC

    t2 turbo
    ford galaxy 1.9tdi intercooler
    astra 16v 5th injector
braided oil feed and return pipe
    selection of differnt boost pipes

    Runing .5bar boost

all soon to be changed once happy with the setup just wanted to see if it would work without blowing my car up.

Its leakng fuel if you can smell it... and 4 larger injectors wil require such thing such as a stanalone ecu

pm medz-vtr_turbo or mallboy on here they may even reply htere turbo guru's also sophia-bush knows a fair old bit as well.

using a 5th injector will be ok, obviously 4 larger injectors would be more accurate but you would require to get standalone engine management to run them which will be very costly.

it sounds like you are running a MF2 that uses a MAP sensor to detect boost and trigger the 5th injector to work. a pic of a MF2 is below does it look firmiluar? To set it up there are adjustable variable resistors that you can turn to adjsut the fuel supply, you can do this yourself to get the car running but then you should take it to a rolling road where it can be properly monitored and adjsuted correctly to get the fueling spot on as if it runs lean you can say buy buy to your pistons, oh and get some pics posted up of your conversion and parts so we can possibly give some more advice

its an adjustable pressure switch. when ur car boosts a certain amount it will go "CLICK" inside the pressure switch which activates the injector> if u read the instructions i think it says that it is factory set at sumthin like ten psi> and if ur only runnin seven ish psi i dnt think it really kicks in properly> coz mine stank of fuel coz it wasnt activating properly> so i turned it down>there should be a flat head screw in between the spade connectors> turn it anticlocwise if u havent already done so>and also turn the enrichment potentiometer as already stated in the thread> if all else fails read the instructions from front to back loads of times

dont you need a sigcon aswell??

As said a MF2 is what you require with a 2 bar map sensor. But be very careful with the engine you have there. They are very week and can not take much boost. Get it setup properly or it will not last.

thanks for all the informaton, i will get pics up asap and i dont seem to have a mf2 so could you recommend where to get hold of one cheap, also can you recommend what parts will be good to re-do the conversion as i think the t2 is to small as dp-enginneering recommeded a t25 or t28 so i was wondering if i could use a t28 exhaust and a t25 inlet to make it spool up quicker,

MF2s are often for sale on ebay and there are often ones for sale on forums. I know there is some one selling one on the Saxo Sports Club and AX Owners Club for instance. But they don’t cost to much new from some one such as the Galloway Motor Company www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk

The turbo you need depends on what sort of boost you are looking of running and how good your intercooler is. You also looking at turbos in the wrong way. You have to look at the actual specification of your turbo. For a standard 206 1.4 engine a T2 could work great assuming you have the correct one. I would also be shocked if dp-engineering had recommended ant T25 or T28. Are you positive they were not recommending a GT series turbo rather than a T series? T series are very dated and hold hat. I would tend to avoid going to the trouble and expense of building a hybrid out of old turbos, Will should be able to get a new turbo that will match you needs.

Thanks axracing like i said at the beginning i bulit this myself so not sure whats the best things to use, so could you recommend the right turbo to use on the tu3 engine, and yes i could possibally be wrong about what turbo dp-engineering said to use as it was along time ago when i spoke to them, as i noticed this morning after giving it a good driving to work this morning there was a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust is this caused by the over fueling of should i start to worry

What color smoke is it? Normally smoke on DIY turbo setups on these engines are due to people using to higher oil pressure for the turbo. The TU engine runs at way to high oil pressure for most turbos.

As for the turbo you wish to run you need to tell us a little more. What boost do you wish to run and what sort of charge cooling are you using? As if your running 6 psi and have no charge cooler you will be using a totally different turbo than if you were running 20psi and have a good intercooler. What manifold and down pipe are you using as well?
  12. #12
the smoke a blue colour its only after i really nail it, (can you explain what you mean by to higher oil pressure for turbo) using standard manifold at mo, trying to get hold of a good manifold but dont no which to use, down pipe is a powerflow with a straight threw dual exit which my mate sorted for me, using ford galaxy 1.9tdi intercooler mounted under bumper wanting to relocate to behind bumper, wanting to run properbly 1 bar of boost

how do u lower the pressure then? my car only smokes blue when it's ticking over. and it stutters whern boosting. any ideas?

mine shudders when boosting but only if i stick my foot to the floor if i gradually press the pedal it doesnt seem to happen so i'm thinking it cant haddle the amount of fuel or there's to much air so the air and fuel mixture is all wrong and i'm only runing the standard map sensor so going to up grade to maybe 2 or 3 bar seen a few on ebay for ok money and only smokes on idle once i've booted it and pulled up to say some traffic lights or a junction i dont think you can lower the oil pressure think you'll have to buy a turbo that can withstand high oil pressure i think i'll wait and see what axracing has to say about it but going to strip mine and redo it using a different turbo out of something else to see it that helps got any pics of yours under the bonnet medz, might alsotake a trip to r e performance BURY to get on rollers and see if i can pin point any problems regaurding fuelling.
