pocket piston on vts??

looking at a head for my vts which has had bigger valves to the quick to the mark, but he said i might need to pocket pistons it depending on head gasket used and clearence!!! basically what is this and more to the point, will this cost me alot money? will get away with particular gasket?

I don't quite understand what you asking... But if you are putting on a head with bigger valves, you won't need to do anything with the pistons.

basically im looking at a head which has the following, Std cam and pullies
Polished rocker covers, Inlet valves changes to the larger c2 type, ported and polished. but i asked the guy if it will fit on without moddyfying anmore and he said i might need to pocket pistons, depending on what size head gasget i use and the clearence.

OK. Don't worry about the pistons... You'll need to choose the head gasket. Depending on what compression ratio you want...

Can anyone help advise on this? Ta.

you wont need to have pocketed pistons unless you run a wilder cam,on standard cams it should be ok

the size of the cam's will determin how far/how long the valves are open, if running standard cams there would be no need for pocketed pistons.

You're forgetting about the head though. If that head has been seriously skimmed, the choice of head gasket may well be crucial, as there will be less distance from the tops of the pistons and the valves at TDC.

I think you need to find out how much has been skimmed from the head mate, then you can determine what gasket to run.

irc a larger valve on the c2 will clash with the saxo piston due to the size of it.

its usually the cam which requires the piston being pocketed or rebated to prevent piston to valve clash.

a standard piston will have pockets machined into them to stop this happening/high comps come with them as standard usually.

    yea seen this on ebay
