What can you do to a vtr engine to make it faster than a vts? Ive read alot of reviews and soem say it can be done, others say it cant?

Was wondering as this might decide what i want in the future. If you can make it faster than a vts, then i would consider it more fun to mod?

Cheers for your replies ( if i get any )

better to throw your money at a VTS engine tbh.

Its possible but will cost a bit of money..

It makes sense to spend the money on a VTS engine..But do what you want to do..

I was going to build a VTS engie into something abit special but dcided to use the 1400 as a base instead..

Just some of the reviews i was reading suggested it could be done, would you find it more interesting to mod it that way?

The reason i said a vtr to a vts, it pretty much insurance. So if i modded a vtr to match or possibly better a standard vts, then it be more fun, less on insurance to start with etc....

Yeah..My 1400 i am hoping to make it as quick as an S...

Not all about power though..Light flywheel, less weight and close gearbox is whats needed aswell..

After modding your vtr it might be more expensive than the vts on insurance

Can a vtr be made faster yes of course it can. Do the same to the vts though are your right back to square one again.

vts is about 120 BHP isnt it? (stock)

vtr is about 98 BHP stock.

how much are we talking about then to make it faster than and 's' without buying a vts?

Cam-£235 (based on a piper cam)
    Manifold-£170-£250+
    Light flywheel-£60
    Remap-£200-£500

    The list goes on tbh..

would you save the money and do it to the vts?
  14. #14
VTS engine is about £500 for a nice one..

Then spend that money on a VTS engine and you will have a monster tbh!!

how fast can you get a vts? all modded and that?

as you can tell, i kno f**k all about cars.......for now

How much can you afford is a better question rather than how fast. Fast is limited by your wallet

    Very true..

Also note that its very well and good building something special, but you have to be able to run it too..

and think im right in saying, if you want top end, then a good VTS engine with a VTR 'box is the way forward
