1 of the meets, its a nice bit of kit imo. -
#9Decent bit of parking in that pic

#10what do you want the bonnet for? Looks, lightness or both? Many places currently making bonnets make them for looks rather than weight saving. My personal opinion is that the quality of the spoox ones was not that great but cloud might disagree with me on that
-
#11If you want it for weight saving, go for glass fibre. I've got one coming, and it weighs 1/4 the amount of the original.
-
#12i paid over £500 for mine worth every penny
-
#13I agree quality is shit, but compare the weight of mine to a decent quailty one like saxo180's.Quote:what do you want the bonnet for? Looks, lightness or both? I can lift mine up with my little finger, his required a whole hand
His does look allot better though and if I had the choice I would have had his anyday. Also my bonnet is not from spoox

#14where did you get yours from toad, ebay or somewhere else?Quote:If you want it for weight saving, go for glass fibre. I've got one coming, and it weighs 1/4 the amount of the original.

does it have hinge mounts and the mount for the front catch or do you have to use pins? -
#15It goes on the original hinges. Bonnet pins would be recommended. I contacted the chap through Ebay. I still haven't completed the deal, it's a bit complicated, as Ebay started blocking me messages as the auction had finished, so I'm struggling to contact him.
When I know more, I will let you know. He said he can get me any bonnet, carbon, or glass fibre... -
#16oh right cool.
i was looking at carbon fibre, as kam is going to be doing them, but then thought fibre glass as its alot cheaper and probs just as light. -
#17It's lighter. But you won't get the same finish. If you're into style in a big way, get a posh one, but that's not for me.
-
#18what did it cost for the fibre glass one, cos then got to add painting on top i guess.
if its close to kams price, may just go carbon.
i guess when its painted it will just match the car and not look any different? -
#19I'm paying £150 for it.

-
#20cant see pics at work.
is that painted or not? -
#21Yeah, but I'll make it look nicer before fitting.
-
#22lol ok your stickers are misleading. Whats yours made from then? I noticed it used two smaller pieces of carbon and I guess its quite thin? hows it strengthened internally?Quote:I agree quality is shit, but compare the weight of mine to a decent quailty one like saxo180's.

There is no way our carbon bonnets are going to be the same price as a fibreglass one from another company, what we will have is very lightweight, high quality items. The first one is due very shortly so I'm almost excited, except I know how big my bill will be for the moulds lol
We will offer a gel coat alternative that will need painting like fibreglass but the cost of that type bonnet will be cheaper than a clear coat finish -
#23how much will the clear coat ones be? and they are the ones that show the weave yes?
-
#24No idea who made the bonnet man, but when I asked the lad the spoox sticker was on there because he had some work done there if I remember right. I never bothered taking it off, yea it's 2 bits of smaller carbon. It is very thin indeed, internally it has a fibreglass frame holding it, if you noticed there was a big square on the front. Thats were it's been re-enforced so it can be pushed ono the bonnet catch without causing damage. I still had to take the spring out of the catch though because it wouldent go on! ah well if it bothered me that much I would have had it sprayed gloss black, that would cover everything up.
-
#25we have to wait for our moulds to be completely finished as plans changed and costs went up and we havent got a final price yet!- we added an internal frame to the spec as we can get that lighter than embedding honeycombe tubes as they absorb a lot of resin. Once we know the mould costs we can work out how much we need to charge to recoup our development costs...

#26Mine has an original style frame made from fibreglass, a fibreglass base then carbon laid over that.
Would originally have been a style whore bonnet, but when I've finished it will be almost as light as Cloud's
