hi i have a 2001 vtr and i was thinking of getting the gear box reconditioned, has anyone had this done before and does it work? or am i best just buying a new gearbox all together?

I had it done a couple of months ago. Cost me about 300 quid. I would say it depends on whether you need it or not. No point spending 300 quid if it doesnt need it. Mine had a hairline fracture in the crown pignon, and it had alot of debris in the gears where bits had broken off etc.

mines getting done right now, lost all gears a few nights ago. I was told its the best way of doing it, as if you get a second hand gearbox, you could end up with one thats worse than the one you've got

its an expaensive way of doing it, there are plenty of decent boxes out there second hand there just is a bit of a risk.

rebuilding boxes is expensive, mine just cost over 800 for a rebuild but then again i have a quaife atb
