Lowering Question

  1. #1
Right Ive been reading the suspension guide, but it still is abit hazy. BAsically I was looking to lower my sax 30mm on the eibach pro springs. My aims to do so will be handling as most acute corners usually bottom out when going about 50.

After some reading I take it I will need lowering springs and dampers? So using kamracing as a guide id need 100 quid springs and then 330 quid for the eibach pro dampers and labour.

Will this be a good set up? I want better handling but also want to retain some comfort. And later on when Ive used it enough, eventually turn it to a slag (a few years yet!)

    Any help/clarification would be appreciated.

you dont necisseraly need to get dampers mate the same ones can withhold the pressure of 30mm drop they should be OK....if they look worn or fucked yeah get new ones!

if you dont want to turn it to a slag yet, you may aswel just get springs, and then get dampers nearer the time. Eibach springs go with the standard dampers really well, i got the sportline ones and they are pretty much same comfort as standard with standard shocks. If you got the money you might aswell get it all now, but if not the springs on their own will be fine for a couple years id say.

labour will probably be about 150 btw mate.

if your keeping the car for a while get the full kit, might aswell do it all at once, cheaper in the long run if your not handy with a spanner

If your only gonig 30mm matey I don't think i would bother getting a full kit. Just get front springs and your good to go.

hmmm mixed opinions. Save up say 580 quid to get dampers and springs + labour or 250 for it sooner....

May wait if it will last longer.

How much are you paying for labour?

Havent enquired anywhere local. Just using Hopcraft's quote.

So 430 notes for springs and dampers (eibach) and then 150 for labour.

I personally think that is far too high a price to pay just to lower the car 30mm. Set of springs would be fine imo and then just pay the labour, i only paid £80 labour though.

Well just thinking of future aswell really. Was the labour at mates rates?

Nope not at all. I couldn't warrant spending 580 quid on lowering a car. Why not go for a cheaper kit?

Could do. Not too familiar on what brands are decent. Only heard that eibach are pretty good. I only want a max 30 mm drop aswell.

Try Spax they do good kits and at decent prices.

do the spax springs offer as much comfort as the eiback ones?

I wouldn't know mate, never had Eibach, The comfort on Spax is good, better than Koni imo.
