1.1 sx mods

  1. #1
What type engine mods for a 1.1 Sx.

I do not what to replace the engine to some thing like a VTR/ S as dont have the money, but i would like to do some thing to it.

I already have a K and N replace ment filter but nothing else.

    Any ideas lease post.

erm not alont tbh, your trying to polish a turd.

best way of getting performance out of a 1.1 is to strip it.

breating mods with filter and exhaust wont do alot tbh

Ok didn't think there was much as it is such a small engine but it was worth asking, i do have a bore exhaust i think t a 3 inch exhaust not 100% sure tho and like i said i have a K and N filter too.

O' and i have taken out the rear seat as i dont need them.

Mate if you haven't taken out the rear seat belts then it is actually "illegal" to have no rear seats. I have been told this by an MOT tester, so it must be correct. Anyways, if your guna take them out you might as well go balls out and strip everything out. Then snewham will have a fellow 1.1 track slag buddy. You know it makes sence

Yep first thing i did was to take out the seat belts i did it ages ago, and where the seats were i have made a flase floor and hide an amp under there for the front comps.

Ill get some picture of my car as soon as i can.

    Yea man sounds cool.

Good choice on color as well bud. Here is a piccy of mine

    ASW. I can't help it

haha, well there's not a great deal that you can do performance wise to a 1.1. I have an enclosed induction and will soon have a supersprint 4-2-1 decat manifold, supersprint straight through centre section and sportex backbox.

I might get it remapped after that but to be honest the cost to bhp ratio is too high and you're best off stripping it like Ryan said.

    any excuse for a photo

I was looking at that site that James posted on your thread and it said that they can get an increase of 6/7 lb ft on a standard 1.1.

but for the price of mapping is it really worth it.

i thought i read you were looking at increasing the CC at somepoint anyway?

if thats the case keep the breathing mods and dont go further, as then ull have more £££ to spend

id spend the money on proper suspension (wishbones) bushes, and brakes etc...

while you have it, you will get more from that on track than a bit of extra bhp from the 1.1.

    Any sites or not...?

it makes more sense, uprate suspension and brakes, theyre worth so much more on a track. did you see how many people i was killing in the braking zone with good brakes on?

good suspension and brakes lets you corner faster.

also if you sort it now, its ready for when you do put a better engine in.

Ok ill try and have a look tomorrow before work.

    Thanks for the help.

i would limit the engine mods to manifold / exhaust and an induction kit. While it would be fun to go mad by camming it and playing with the head/inlet manifolds you are never going to get massive returns for the costs.

If you are going to upgrade to another saxo / 106 with a bigger engine at a later dat, then pick mods that you can transfer.. suspension etc

this is a common thing here in Croatia, not on saxos but on other 1.1 models....
you should see how they perform...
