Steering Wheel change

  1. #1
    Hi,
I want to change my steering wheel and have the correct boss kit. My car has an airbag, i have read to disconnect the battery for around 30 mins before taking the wheel off as to not set off the airbag. Once i have changed my wheel the airbag light should stay on but i have seen something where you can stop this. I'm not sure but it just pushes into the airbag plug and the light stays off.
I thought this would come with my boss kit but hasn't, where can i find one if anyone knows what i mean.

    Thanks
    Jake

When i changed mine last nite , i stuck a resistor into the holes in the airbag plug

I believe you could just remove the airbag ECU.

yeah, you need to use a resistor of a cerain value, cant remember off the top of my head, but have some at home so will have a look after lunch.

so if i put a resistor on the connectors which used to connect into my airbags in my seats would this make the light go out?

It should do yes , but it has to be a certain resistor

the best thing to do is that take out the speedo disconnect the wiring plugs off the back open the clips on the speedo and just put some black tape over that long instrument panel thing which shows the airbag light once u done that and put everything back together u wont notice the light on, because u might want to stick the airbag in at a later time so theres not much point taking the airbag stuff out but if u want to its under the centre console u will have to cut the carpet slighty

taper over the light for me

or you could just unplug the airbags ecu
