ok wnt to plymouth last night, on the way home about 50 miles into the journey the bird puts on a song and i hate it, so i tell her this as i go to turn down the music i took my foot off the accellerater and im hearing a noise as if someone is blowing through a bottle,i knew instantly my wheel bearing had gone cos it happened to my golf , the gf was pannicing though which di rdnt help for the 60 miles that were left of the journey, so im going to go and get a new wheel bearing today but how hard are the to fit? can i do it with a hammer and some wood or do i really have to take it to a garage to use a 15 tonne press? any help would be much obliged lol much love from chris

yeh had mine done when i bought my sax they seem prone to it, you need a 10 tonne press its a job i wouldnt recomend you do it yourself. your looking at £40 for a bearing + 30 for fitting, but you need to remove the whole front leg from the vehicle if your a handy mechanic do this yourself but beware of breaking anti-rollbar link + track rod ends when removing and reassembling.

    hope that helps matey

If you have a press then your ok. i think it can be knocked out with a hammer, but I wouldn't wanna try it tbh. I would take it to a garage personally.

    Cheers
