A bit of help please...

    Hi guys,

Firstly i'll say hello - i've been a member on here a couple of weeks now but i've found myself spending all my time on here simply reading through the thousands of articles that are around - some very good information might i add!

Basically in the next week i hope to buy my first Saxo - i'm looking at getting a VTR. I decided not to live at Uni this year specifically so i could get a nicer car and with the prices of VTR's currently being very reasonable i have decided to go for one! I'd love a VTS but being 19 at the moment the insurance companies really wouldn't do me any favours trying to insure one!

Anyway, back to the question, my mate has a Clio with a Pipercross induction kit (think its an open one, haven't actually seen it but i've heard it plenty of times) which makes a very nice roar when driving around. Now i've had a good read through a lot of articles on here, and i've read a few times people mentioning an actual loss of bhp when certain induction kits are fitted? Basically, i've seen people commenting on the Pipercross kits offering a nice roar, but my main worry would be losing bhp. I'm not some fool who thinks fitting an induction kit will add 10bhp or knock a second off my 0-60, but basically i don't want to lose any power!

I'd be quite happy knowing the bhp was unchanged or it added 1-2bhp at the most as long as it gave my car the good roar that i've heard from my mates pipercross... It might sound daft me wanting an induction kit for the roar but with my insurance hardly cheap as it is i simply can't afford to go out of my way to start adding bhp to my car. I currently drive a 1.1 fiesta, so as you can imagine i'll be more than happy with a nice VTR!

I was going to go for a BMC filter, but i heard the enclosed ones don't offer much in terms of noise? Ideally, does anyone know of a filter that offers improved engine roar as well as not having any negative affects on performance?

Any help is appreciated - sorry if you've heard this a hundred times before but i've spent the past 2 hours having a good look in this forum and still was wondering about a few things!

    Thanks a lot!

    bmcs are very quiet.

greens/the raceland isnt fully enclosed, but has a decent scoop to shield it from heatsoak, they still make a nice growl

and fuck me ios that that the longest first post ever lol
