whats wrong with viper filters?lowering

Hi, ive got a pipercross viper filter fitted to my vtr.can anyone tell me y most people think that bmc, and green induction kits are much better. Had this kit fitted for 3 months, and found that the car feels much more smother, alot more responisive from 3,500rpm, sounds fairly nice when booted, looks good, and the temperature gauge only goes up quarter of the way most of the time, compaired to the standard filter, which went over half way. This filter does use quite alot of petro compaired to standard shitty air filter. does anyone know y?

Overall would recoment a viper filter to any1 who owns a vtr!!!!!!!!!!

Raced a 106 rally with a full s/s system + induction kit, and found my vtr was much more quicker in a straight line on the top end, and was suprised as mine only has a filter and a 4 inch backbox.Had few races with couple of 1.8 golfs mark 2s golfs, and found it easy to keep with them, which is another suprise, as golfs are esentially ment to be much faster cars.

could any 1 tell me who has there vtr lowered by 60mm, if it handles good?or as good as 40mm?ive herd many people saying 40mm is best, but i want it lowwer, and to handle superbly.

ive had my vtr lowered by 60mm on pi springs.the ride isnt too bad but not the best, another bad point is that the driveshafts sit at an awkward angle and can need replacing every so often.ive only had to change mine once and its been lowered for nearly 2 years.also if ur wanting to fit big wheels then u'll need a bit of arch work doing. on the upside it makes the car look loads better. if u want it to handle really well then u'll have to go for a full suspension kit.

ive got a piperx viper on mine but ive had it converted to a vts.ive heard bad reviews on the viper but im pleased with it.

as far as iam aware anything other than a enclosed isn't very good for performace. I got a BMC with 4" backbox very good pulls alot more than the standard air filters but thats no suprise. Remember that the saxo is a lighter car than the big 1.8 golfs.

you wont get a saxo that is lowered 60mm to handle superbly full stop. Its to low the wishbone and drive shafts are at an awkward angle and even shortened shocks wont be short enough. 40mm (or 35mm cant remember) eibach springs and bilstein shortened dampers or the GMC bilstein kit and now your talking.

The viper isnt thought to be as good as the otehr enclosed filters due to the viper being enclosed in a metal casing. The carbon strip is exactly that, a bit of sellotape carbon which doesnt provide any heat sheilding. The metal casing heats up a lot faster than a plastic casing and stays hot which essentially wraps the filter in a hot air blanket.

All things said if you like it then thats all that matters

so my best bet is to get a bmc or a green forced, although i think the bmc looks cool as fuck

not to sure as yet , as I havent got mine on yet !
But when I do , I will tell you!
It will make the car feel more responsive though !

they do look trick, and will need you to do a leetle ework with the breethers and shit. It's not hard, but a haynes manual can sort you out

will find a pic fo you of my bmc, the viper is not enclosed in a heat resistant sheild, so is still sucking warm air.
