GSF Car parts - Lowering springs?

  1. #1
Have searched but have had no luck.

Has anyone bought lowering springs from GSF car parts?

Im looking into gettin some - as they are cheap as chips - but doesn't know how good they are - and you usually get what you pay for - which is why he is trying to decide wether to get some Eibach springs or to go for GSF unbranded lowering springs.

Has anyone bought any other unbranded lowering springs - Euro car parts etc

The only reason that im even considering GSF Springs is because I usually get all of my servicing parts from them (as they are local) and they are top notch!

Ive never had a lowered car - so even if I do get GSF or Eibach springs - i don't have anything to compare them against.

Any advice or help is appreciated

    Thanks in advance,
    Jas

The reality in the car world is the more you spend the better stuff you usually get - especially this applies to suspension. Personally I dont believe in lowering a car just for looks as you still have to drive it so I buy the best I can afford. What can you afford to buy now? Can you afford to make a mistake? and can wait to afford better? It would be well worth going for a few rides in other Saxp members cars to experience lowered cars..

I'll try and make it - but im quite busy this weekend.

Too soft? Most people on sax-p have got eibach springs haven't they? and they say they are quite good?

Im just trying to figure out what differences there might be - but as you say, i will be able to find this out by going for a drive in a lowered car and then comparing that to other/standard springs.

yeah they have but to me they are way too soft

they bounce way too much for me, bumpy roads are a night mare and ive bottomed out twice with them on

ive only had them on the car since a few days before trax

i hope to be changing them around xmas or just after

from what everyone on here says - Eibach are the best springs and are good for overall ride quality and looks?

Anyone bought any unbranded or budget springs?

i bought apex 50mm springs not bad for £60. As you say, you get wat you pay for. they suit me at the min, but probably upgrade to full bilstein kit in the future. brother had it in his golf gti mk3, was pretty stiff but held the road brilliantly.

Are they definatly GSF make, because I have bought a few parts from them and there not a budget make. My mate a g40 supercharged polo, and he gets loads of his parts off them. Have you phoned and checked what the brand is?

I dont know the exact make of the springs - and the website doesn't give much detail (tried to get a link to show you - but its a search and I cant get the actual page - if you know what i mean!)

N99406 LOWERING SPR KIT SAXO ALL (LOWERS 40mm) - thats all it says on the weibsite - can't even get a pic of how they look!

There's a GSF 2 mins from me so i'll pop down and ask a few questions about what make they are and how long they are gauranteed for how hard/soft the ride is etc - which will help me determine how good they are.

I use GSF for all of my servicing parts - and they supply parts for German cars like Mercedes and VW - so they have quite a good reputation.

Just to let you all know, I bought the 40mm springs from GSF and fitted them on the Saturday just gone. Im very happy with them. The ride height is spot on, the ride quality is very good – just like how it was with standard springs and the car corners a lot better – especially on roundabouts – no more body roll!

So to sum up, im really happy with the GSF lowering springs – they are made by a company called lesjofors – who make lowering springs for most cars.
