What do I need to do this?

Clean 'em? Prime 'em? Spray 'em?

    Any comments appreciated

i belive you will want to give it a little rub down. then plastic primer it mayb 2-3 layers, then paint 2-3 layers, then lacque 2-3 layers.

Cool. What would you rub it down with?
  4. #4
some 1200 grit sand paper to give the surface a key for the primer to stick to

depends on the finish you want, you really want a high gradient paper so it doesnt ruff up plastic, the lower the number the more ruff the paper is, like 60 would be for fiber glass shaping, so you probably more after 300-400 just go into halfords and explain to them and they will show you what you need.

rub it down with wet and dry
    3 coats of primer
    3 coats of paint
as many coats of laquare as you can, this will help to stop it flaking off and chipping

make sure you leave it to dry properly between each coat and spray the coats on evenly. hold the can about 20-30cm away to avoid runs.

if you get a run, let it dry properly then rub it down and start again

they should do mate, although ebay will probablies be cheaper

also when you have done the centre console etc, leave them to harden for a good week as you will end up leaving fingerprints in the paint

Yeah will do mate, gonna get hold of a spare centre console and set of vents from somewhere so I can leave 'em for as long as I want.

ive done this with my car, great way to make your interior look mint...

i took the centre console out of the car, gave it a good rub down with sum fine wet and dry paper... then i gave it a good rinse to get the dust off...

then i applied a few layers of primer, letting each layer dry before applying the next, make sure you are careful to built up a coat slowly... then 3 layers of my chosen colour which was aluminium in my case... before the last coat was completely dry i applied laquer thickly (making sure not to let it run)... give it about 3 coats of laquer and let it completely dry before attempting to fit back in

What sort of stuff is primer?

I got a spray can of laqour from halfords today- is that good stuff?

What sort of spray paint u need to spray it?
  18. #18
    plastic primer

    then

    paint

    then

    laquer mate

as long as you sand the part down and use plastic primer your ok, and take your time
