Angel eyes for the mk2s, seeing as they skimped on the lenses and made em out of plastic ive read they can melt if you fit them with HID bulbs.

But HID kits use bulbs which run on about 35w of powah. Normal halogen/'xenon' bulbs run on 55/60w of powah. So am i right in thinkin that the std offerings are emmiting a lot more heat than the HIDs so if anything the halogens are gonna do more damage?

Or is it because of the extra light emitted more of it gets 'caught' in the lense and changes to heat with the HIDs?

bloody hell i havent a clue!

    hahah

The only thing i know is that normal LED's that flash about in your computer and appliances work on the fact that they emit a VERY narrow wavelength of light.
where as bulbs tend to emit just about everything (inc infrared light - which causes heat)

Im not sure on the HID... I think they do produce more heat (that is a stab in the dark tbh man!)

    really sorry!

    star!

then the answer is.... we're still not sure if the headlights will take it.

I'm still baffled that ultra charge £200 for the angels and they're made out of plastic...

Cheers lads. couldnt rep you cloud already given you love recently.

Yeah my mates have just cracked, im not gonna bother with em now. The whole point of buying Ultra shizzle was that they had great build quality

Came to me the other day, seeing as the colours are rated by the Kelvin scale which is a measure of heat, and halogens are 2300 when HIDs are 6-8000 they must be much hotter

Good question Ben, i asked the same when i got my Angels (i never had the accurate thread title like you though )

You might have hit the nail on the head with the plastic lens thing though... Dispite their bulbs being measured in heat, i was told the acctual bulb gives off less heat that a normal bulb, in which case it would seem liek the heat build up would be in any (plastic) substance that it has to pass through.

Hmm confusing. Why dont you all chip in for a KID kit and angel eyes for me, ill carry out a test to see if they melt and let you know how i get on
