B AND M Quick shift

#2They are very quick if you have all the tools you will need. Should take no more than an hour at most. Took me probably 30 mins to do including jacking the car up.
Off the top of my head you need a jack, axel stand, t40 torx bit & a hacksaw.
Your girlfriend will probably slate you for having a gearknob which saws BUM though, mine laughs at me everytime i touch it
-
#3Theres a guide on these forums/website. Have a search/look around.

Im also after one but dont dare trying to fit it myself. So i'd have to pay a fortune to get someone to do it for me :o -
#4here is my scan of the instructions
piece of piss to fit
-
#5could you fit a griffith and a B&M
because i know that the griffith is put near the gearbox but not sure where the B&M goes -
#6the B&M reduces the throw by 25%. About perfect IMO
-
#7but could you combine both for a mega short shift?
-
#9hmmm i dont think id want to try that out tbh lol more parts that could fail on a saxo bahahahaha.
just put one on or the other
I havea B&M and its awesome no slack gearknob anymore and nice strong shifts. -
#10What is the difference between the Griffiths and the B&M?
-
#11B&M proper quickshift lol
Griffiths is a poor mans B&M lol -
#12The B+M is piss easy to fit, its just a fanny on removing the heat-shields beneath the car, and putting them back on.
the difference is the quality, essentially do the same thing; although with the b+m its a proper kit
plus you get stickers! -
#13What do you mean a proper kit?
I dont like the gearknob etc with the B&M, would rather keep my gti knob lol -
#14im sure the gti knob can be bodged on to fit tbh, i agree it does look wank!
i quite enjoyed fiddling with it in traffic though, spinning the B+M cap around lol.
proper kit, as in the linkage, lube, knob, stick etc..
the griffiths is just a bracket iirc. i've never fitted one, but i went for the b+m cause of their reputation.
although for £24 or whatever delivered for the griffiths that could be the more plausable option
-
#15Dont fancy bodging it lolQuote:im sure the gti knob can be bodged on to fit tbh, i agree it does look wank!

You enjoy fiddling with your knob in traffic often then?
24 quid is what im thinking, skint student
-
#16aye B&M could be fitted in an hour, took me about hour and half to fit mine, which included taking front bumper off and rolling it up the ramps, fitting it and putting bumper back on
-
#17depends if theres a fit lass stuck in traffic with me

yeah skint student me too, i opted b+m and it was great though, don't get the floppy knob syndrome saxo's come with, and the changes are a lot firmer.
nice mod
www.griffiths-engineering.co.uk is the link for griffiths, and kam www.kam-racing.com has a group buy on for the b+m -
#18Will the Griffiths one tighten it up as well though?
Dont understand how one is only 20 quid and the other is 86 lol -
#19Yeah thats what its for, just a cheap alternative i think. does the same sort of job.
i went for the b+m out of the two.. i can only comment on the b+m was great
someone else will shed some light on the griffiths no doubt -
#20heard nothing but good things about Griffiths,
does the same thing but with a standard gearstick/gearknob.
Better if your a bit tight for cash tbh. -
#21Thinking about getting one myself but does it really tighten the gear lever up? mine is still wobbly when in gear and just feels like its going to come straight off. I had to replace a pin from the linkage last week as it snapped off lol
-
#22change the linkages, think theyre about 12 quid from citroen iirc?
-
#23Something like that yup. 2 other of my mates have got vtrs and all are the same including my old 1.1 so i would replace the linkages but citroen are known for dodgy feeling gears lol
-
#24Yep, i hate the floppy stick so i decided to go the full whack and get a B&M, its reduced the flop a bit but theres still alot of flop there, uprated linkages are my next target.
-
#25linkages and a shortshifter will resolve the problem. as Mystic said.
Mine is toight, toight like a tiger, and I dont have a shortshifter. -
#26Sounds good will consider that mate. Linkages different or come in a standard size?
-
#27Standard size for all saxos. Theres a group buy starting for some atm aswell i think! £35 for 10 or more orders iirc?
-
#28standard size mate I believe as all saxo boxes are the same.
Can buy uprated ones,
but I just have brand new standard ones. -
#29Mint thats next on the list lol cheerz
-
#30its always a let down having a floppy knob.
-
#32all this talk of quickshift makes me want one now tbh...
-
#33get some group n linkages

got them aswell as the quickshift and omg cant go wrong with it at all
.
think there £45 off ebay stainless steel and worth the money -
#34
-
#35do quickshifts really do that much?
80 odd quid on a B+M...
45 quid more and I could be seeing gains from a Manifold tbh
