best high lift cams 2 get?

#1
-
#2when you say best do you mean race spec with a full engine build needed to make them work properly?
-
#3a jus mean lyk get them fitted and only a remap needed! do u sell the maifolders for the mk2 saxo also need a manifold tht will fit!!
-
#4This should be in the engine section really..

I would say the wildest to go for would be the piper 285..Or an equivelent cam to that spec..Much more and you may have to upgrade other parts.. -
#5i havnt looked into it much but a want really good 1's a want it faster than a vts which it shud b with my new exhaust system and a manifold which im gettin de-cat obv! and remapped
-
#6No, no and ...........
no funnily enough.
An aftermarket air filter and exhaust system will not make your car quicker than a VTS. And you don't want to re-map the engine management after installing those items alone. -
#7anar a lad hus got his vtr on cam, n full system remapped n its kickin on 139 bhp enclosed viper induction kit too!
-
#8Piper 285 cams are NOT a 285 profile cam btw! They are similar profile to the
Catcam 708s, a 270 profile cam.
I think the piper 300s are around 285 or something. Daft really. -
#9not too much a dont think they make a hell of a diffrnce wen mapped correct
-
#10who is the best cames ?
Catcam 708s
Piper cames 285

#11Pretty sure there is a lot of difference in the profiles mate.Quote:not too much a dont think they make a hell of a diffrnce wen mapped correct
Catcams and the pipers are very similar I hear, but the catcams are cheaper.Quote:who is the best cames ?
Catcam 708s
Piper cames 285
kent cames pt52
Not heard much about the Kent ones. -
#12Go on Bullit sort em out!
-
#14What about Pipers you LayGord?
-
#15never played one
-
#16Thats what they all say...
Nice one mate
-
#17I think all 3 are the same duration of 262... ? Possibly... I don't know their exact lift, but again, they will be very close.
Your mate needs to take his car to a rolling road where they give real BHP figures, and not pie in the sky ones. Fair enough, my previous comment was with regard to just and air filter and and exhaust system. Obviously if you are going to replace the cams, then a re-map should be carried out. There's a good chance you would get to a similar BHP of a VTS, but no way 20 BHP more than a standard VTS! {shakes head} -
#18I agree with that.Any thing over and you are going to have to change other parts.Quote:

#19anything over a '285' profile cam on the TU engine and you need to sort out the induction side.
-
#20so the Kent is the best choise??Quote:anything over a '285' profile cam on the TU engine and you need to sort out the induction side.
