how big can you go?

    hi guys.
what are the biggest wheels you can fit on a 97 vtr after lowering the suspension etc. Because i was thinking of doing 17" and then lowering it slightly. enough so it sits lower but doesn't ground out....i don't know how much to lower it by either? is it best to do it evenly or more on the front or rear?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tim.

Anything above a 16" wheel with 40 profile tyres & your going to be looking at arch work.

Once you get started with arch workthough, i think the biggest wheel iv seen fited were 20" or 22"?

Why would you want to fit such large wheels though?

yeah i want to avoid doing any archwork if i can avoid it. i was thinking 15" then lowering it...apart from it's going to set the speedo out of sinc as soon as i change it surely?

    I wouldn't go any thing above 16" .

The speedometer already over estimates your speed, fitting larger wheels will effectively make it more accurate.

The VTS has 15" wheels on a 45 profile tyre, which effectively give it the same overall rolling circumference as the vtr has on its 14" wheel with a 55 profile tyre, so you wont notice much difference atall in the speedometer.

Similarly a 16" wheel with a 40 profile tyre is also about the same rolling circumference & again wouldnt affect the handeling or speedometer too much.

so on 15" wheels what profile tyre should i be looking for?
thanks btw. really appreciate the advice. im a bit of a newbie to the world of saxo's and im loving ever second of it

    for a 15" your looking at 195/45/15
for a 16" i think its a 195/40/16 or a 205/40/16, cant remember off the top of my head.

You can fit 17's but you will need spacers. No arch work required. But stick with 15's. Will look good I think.

ok 17" alloys without lowering will be fine, the min u have people in the back ull get rubbing

    17" + lowering + people = LOTS of rubbing

the only way to get 17s with lowering your looking around £250 worth of archwork i have been quoted from r-tec - so unless u really wanna do it then u gotta have the funds
other wise a nice 15/16 will be fine on low pro tyres

i have just ordered a set of TSW black ice 15" alloys with 45 profile tyres and lowering 40mm and will look sexxxxy

thought this would be a thread by clo tbh...

to keep your speedo accurate, then for every size up you go in terms of wheel size, do down a tyre profile size... therefore your rolling radius is always the same

someones had 19s on a saxo before
