Gearbox recomendations?

   Hi there
   
   ive got a vtr mk2 with the following mods catcam, superspring mani, ind kit, ported inlet, balanced and lightened wheel,
   
   my gearbox has about had it, and i want advice on what gearbox to change to, i was told to purt a diesal g/b on or a 1.1 g/b but im not up on them!
   
   any advice would be greatful!

   Who told you that? Give those a miss mate...
   
   You want a VTS / 106 GTI box for better pickup compared to the VTR box. Or, if you want even better pickup, look for the likes of a 1.4 XSI box, or for the highest final drive of them all, the series 1 Rallye box.

   Dont bother with them, if you are planning on running a standard one go for either a VTS or XSI or RALLYE box.

   yeah dont worry om givin it a miss sounted abit dodgy!
   
   ive got a 1.4xsi gear box so il put that on! Dont think im gona find a decent series on rallye box1

   If you've already got a 1.4XSI box, stick it in matey! It will make a HUGE differecne compared to the stock VTR box!!!

   whilest im changing the gearbox would it be worth buying and fitting a balanced and lightened flywheel as the same time will i benefit from this?

   I suppose it would be a sensible time to do it. But do you really need one? It's up to you... If the car is purely for the road, I wouldn't bother. Worth it if you are making it a race car though.

    what useage does the vtr get ?
    
    if you do motorway miles dont consider anything else other than a vts box.

    Good point, S1 rallye on the Mway is hell.
    
    Can always change 5th gear though

    rite the xsi box is in and up and running, what a difference!!
    
    Rite there is a slight prob tho nothin majour, when i go to select reverse gear the gear box link hits the side of the car if that makes sence?
    
    ive got all gears and they work fine, just its gona bug me!
    
    Anyone had this before that can help?

    it looks to me as if it where the gear stick coms out the bottom of the car if that makes sence?
