To colour code the side strips your best bet would be to remove them. Can be very tricky to do. Then you primer them, colour them and then lacquer them. I would imagine you would need lots of coats of lacquer to stop the paint cracking. I was gonna have my bumpers colour coded and I was quoted £50 for the lot. Would only take a day to do

    Cheers

colour coding at a body shop usually costs around £200 - £250, i did mine myself, you cannot remove the strips on there own they are part of the arch, lower door pannel and rear 3/4 pannel. however if you are carefull at masking it up then there is no need to remove them. you will need to cover the whole of the side of the car to stop any overspray, also you have to pull out the side repeater and mask it up and remove the door badge. its then just a case of working different grades of sand paper, starting with a relatively coarse one to make it smooth, finishing on 1200 grit. then apply 3 coats of primer, allow 24hrs to dry, then 3 to 4 coats of paint, allow 24hrs to dry then 3 to 4 coats of laquer after 24hrs you can remove the masking tape but i kept mine garaged for a week for the laquer to fully harden
