   I think I'm going to buy one of these. From what I've read, they look they could be a lot of fun.

   All to do with the movement of car iirc. I bought one like this and never used it. Ran on batterys though insted of ciggy lighter.

   It measures it from the g-forces created on acceleration. You need to tell it what weigh the car is for an accurate reading. You can do loads of stuff with it... 1/4 mile runs, BHP figures, 0 - 60 runs... If it's accurate, it could be a lot fun I reckon.

   cant you get a better version that does you sideway-ness like the drifters use?

    They do an "RR" model too. (This one being the SS version) IIRC, the RR one allows you download the data onto a PC / laptop for better analysis. You might be right about the lateral g-forces too. I think the RR is much more expensive.
