Cages / Spaxo Safety?

  1. #1
Ok, after see'ing some of the pictures of Saxo's that have been involved in crashes and the finishing state of the cars, Ive been tempted to get a cage for mine.
Was just wondering how much space it would take up etc. and what if anything i'd need to modify?
Saxo's are already rather small inside, would i have to cut away at like the dashboard etc.

    Any help appreciated

    Cheers

P.S. I rolled a Seat Ibiza when i was 17 and the car saved me because of the strong build. I know Saxo's arn't the best built cars in the world and would like that little extra reassurence that im going to survive if ever i have a nasty crash.

    look at Lewisimo's progress thread,
    that'll give you an idea.

So i'd have to cut out a small section of the dash, remove the rear seats and weld bolting sections to the floor?

Is there no-way to improve safety without compromising looks?

no all cgaes need dash sectuions cutting out mate but all depends how you wanna end up seen some pretty nasty saxo crashes!!!

Dont ahve to cut the dash with the old OMP one but try finding one. I cant remember if the dash needs cutting for the Safety Devices cage but either way a cage will still need parts welding to the body work to mount and you will probably have to loose the rear seats and/or door cards.

Or you have a custom made cage but it still has to be mounted to the car some how

also, some require the sunroof to be removed and a blanking panel put in.

why does the sunroof have to come out?

    could never understand why

some cages mount to the roof in that area, others just get very close to the roof and the runners get in the way.

tbh, you have windows and air blowers, a sunroof just makes a bomming noise when open, so is there for a pain in the bum.

That gold one looks like the roof was chopped off - I'd guess by the fire brigade to get at the occupants!
