#2Basically all fully enclosed filters will suffer to some extent because their only supply of air is through their cold air feed, now if this is poorly installed or the car is not on the move and fresh atmosphere is being 'feed' into the induction system to the filter then it can suffer from a slight starvagtion.
Now a open filter say like a 57i K&N setup wouldnt suffer from this problem as its 'open' to the engine bays atmosphere but then it suffers from its own problems mainly 'Heat Soak' or sucking on warm air there by lowering performance.
Finding the balance is the trick
Just because a product performs poorly on a rolling road doesnt mean it will perform the same in the open road. -
#3imo, i think people prefer the likes of the bmc and the raceland with green filter, as there is no metal around the filter, whereas the viper has metal ends to the casing, so these heat up and some hot air drawn in to the intake.

#4raceland are usually used with a metal pipe...Quote:imo, i think people prefer the likes of the bmc and the raceland with green filter, as there is no metal around the filter, whereas the viper has metal ends to the casing, so these heat up and some hot air drawn in to the intake.
people on here like BMCs because they are style whores and it fills the gap between the head and battery up nicely...
ps: i have a viper

#5i know the raceland use a metal pipe, but its not around the filter, whereas on the viper it is.
with the raceland the air is going into the filter then through the pipe and there would be little if no effect.
but with the viper, the metal is around the filter, thus heating the air and filter up before.
and yes, bmc is also a good style whore peice of kit. -
#6Not a viper man myself,
look quite tidy though. -
#7I have a viper and i like it lol, i just want a BMC for the pretty blue silicone hosing i can have
-
#8i like the look of the viper's but myself, prefer the bmc's, and the limited edition silver carbon ones are nice too.

#10lol ^^^

#12haha, i dont care about my engine bay...
cant see it when you're moving so whats the point.. -
#13I wish my engine bay was cleaner, thats on my to do list tbh

#15Foir non-saxo applications there is only a few choices when it comes to enclosed induction systems. Pipercross's Viper system has been about quiet sometime now, with stuff like the K&N Apllo range and others joining over recent years.

#17LOL just to rub it in
