piper exhaust

   I read on one of the threads on here that a big exhaust can make the car loose back pressure and performance. I was just wondering will a 4'' piper jap style back box on a saxo vtr do the same any help will be great

   The back box is not the thing that matters it is the bore(size) of the centre section.
   Piper seem to be one of the favourites on this site, also I have one and it sound gorgeous.
   But as Coonper said you will not see gains from a back box just an increase in noise

   a backbox on a VTR, the performance gain/loss will be so minimal it wont matter.

   so you can fit any size back box no matter how big it is and it wont effect the back pressure

   you can only fit a 3.5 to 4 inch on your car any bigger than that the police will pull you over.

   yes my mates have been pulled over and by measuring tape and also tell by how loud the exhaust is and make you take an emissons test.

    The answer is both yes and no really.
    
    Its mainly down to the bore of the pipework thats used if the bore in the exhaust is too big your def lose performance but sports exhaust 99.9% of the time stick to the same bore as factory exhausts but its in the boxes that the changes are made hence performance improvements.
    
    Just a BIG back box wont alter performance either up or down.

    i got the 3.5 inch piper back box and supersprint race only centre section a little loud but sounds awsome when giving it some

    ive also got a supersprint race only cenre section and just got a 3 inch peco backbox and ive got a raceland 4-2-1 any idea of wot it mite sound like???? too loud??? hope not... anyone think i`l get a nice sporty sound exhaust with this race only centre section if not i`l have to get a 1 with a silencer in lol
