anything with the right amount of time, money and effort will fit.

a 306 gti-6 engine fits iirc, but its weather the upset is so drastic that its not worth doing.

plus i'd go for a vtec type r or a hayabusa engine, in the back!

well ive spoken to a few people and tbh, it doesnt see worth it.

the onli cars that have these kinda engines are show cars. so i think im guna tune my vts engine up, should she a fair amount of power and wont effect the handleing.

ive just bought a vtr with a vts engine fitted its got a 206 rallye ecu with a piggyback chip dnt no what the cams r but since buying it last week i have beat a clio 172 and a civic type r, which has increased my penis by two inches so far

The EW isnt that much heavier than a VTS engine, its all alloy. Yes itll go in, its not that hard if you have the time and fabrication skill to put it in (I sized up a 182 engine into a Saxo), but if the engine itself fits,the limiting factor is always in the management.

The 180 engine has a variable intake cam. The ECU controls the cam timing, so to keep that, you need to run the standard ECU or get an aftermarket kit that can run forms of VVT.

the gti 180 lumps are 1 of the hardest engines to tune unles u willin to spend alot of money wich sounds like ur not. ur lookin at 500 easy for that lump and another 500 to get it runnin properly. for a grand u could see a vts make 160-170 bhp and will be leavin gti 180's for dead. i used to beat them up to 80mph in my 130bhp vtr

the very first few out of the factory were truely 180bhp, but the 206 gearbox couldnt handle the power and hence the cars were recalled.
the cars recalled were then detuned instead of the gearboxes being uprated.

from then on the 206 gti 180's came out of the factory with a bhp more around 160ish.....
this was cheaper for peugeot to do than uprate the entire gearbox series, typical french !

a peugeot technician told me

as gabbastard said an all alluminium engine woulndt be much heavier than a vts engine, if the 180 engine is 20kg heavier than a vts which i doubt it is then you could move the battery to the boot and put a carbon fibre bonnet and youve just lost the weight youve gained with the engine, granted the engine will sit lower.you could then change the dampers and springs.

at the end of the day where i work we use engines from bike engines to ove 4litre v8's in the same sort of chasis and the cars still handle incredibly well.

i work for westfield sportscars matey. yh the new corvette engie are really good, the ls-7 engine is immensely light for a 7 litr also and 512bhp.thats why all the "big"kit cars like ultima and gardna&douglas are using them.

we have a model called a "megablade" which when stript and using all lightweight goodies we can get them down to about 390kg then range up to v8's,inccidently i drove a westfield yesterday that had a 5.2litre tvr engine in with dellorto downdraft carbs lol it was a pure animal

I like the BE3 box. We've used them on 200bhp+ Mi16 engines without a problem.

The only problem with the Gti 180 was that it was about 2 years behind the competition and fell short of expectations.
