    Right im bored at work lol and i had a thought

    Could a Reanult 5 GTT engine go into my car? as then theoretically it will still be a 1.4 like the xsi should be.

    And seen as its £2k+ for a turbo-s/c kit thought it might be an avenue to look at?

    It will go in, size-wise, but the mounts are COMPLETELY different (GTT engine sits on a subframe), its carb, and youd need to look at custom shafts or a replacement bellhousing for the MA gearbox.

    Cheap engine, but everything else would cost you so much that it wouldnt be worth it. Look elsewhere dude.

    No need to go any further with the questions as that above is the real answer.

    Any engine within reason can be made to fit any car, its just a case of:

    1: Is it worth it?
    and
    2: Have you got enough money?

    If you looking for engine transplants look to either a 16v VTS conversion or a slightly cheaper option, a tuned 8v VTR conversion.

    Dont forget to take insurance into account too
