Just took my door pins out...

i was going to go to halfords and get some grommets to cover the gap, but the match was starting so i thought il wait til tomorrow, and i started thinking about putting some leds in, not just to pretend i have a super alarm installed but so i know the doors have locked cos without the pins i cant tell just by looking at them! and my central locking is a bit temperemental

what id want is the led to stay lit(or flash?) when the door was locked, but to turn off when the door wasn't unlocked. could this be done? would it be hard?

So basically you're just replacing the door pins... And you want them to flash when the door is locked - and not to flash when it's unlocked...?

I am not sure on how you would do that. Obviously wiring up the led will be a piece of piss, but getting it so the led will flash when the door is locked will be quite tricky. I am sure someone will know how to do it. The only thing I can think of, is to wire the LED up to the keypad imobilier (if you have one).

im not replacing them, ive taken them out and im sure i read that people have put gromets in like normal to cover up the hole, but they've put an led in the gromet. which is what i want to do but to have some sort of way to let me know that the door has locked when i lock the car, mainly the passenger one cos i dont have a fob and when i lock with the key the central locking doesnt always work so i have to walk round and lock the car (as i wont be able to push the pin down now that its out lol)

thanks, but it wasnt so much when the engine is turned, just so that when the doors locked it would flash so i'd know they had locked, rather than physically checking the doors. might just wait til i get my alarm in and get the central locking mechanism checked out to see if it needs a new one, and then maybe attach an led to the alarm to get it to flash when the alarm is armed. thanks for your help guys

maybe some kind of reed switch might work?? have a look at the door looks see if theres a moving part or sumit you could maybe put a reed switch on or one of them magnet ones (cant remember what they are called) so that when it moves to the locked position it can complete a circuit and switch the LEDs on.

Just a thought. ill have a look and see if it can be done.
