lowered 60mm all round

  1. #1
i have had my torsion bar lowered 60mm recently and have now just bought some 60mm springs only, for the front...

will having it like this cause any harm or damage to the car at all, will normal shocks be ok?

    thanx

mines is lowered 60mm on the standard shocks and is fine. been like that for over a year anyway. bit bumpy tho ,feel every bump in the road. but looks mint.

it is advised you change the shocks after lowering more than 40. the ride will be horrible tbh. 60mm on springs.
  7. #7
im lowered 60mm on standard shocks bumpy as fuck which is funny, but handles like a beast.

go for it mate, i'm only 40mm on a full kit but 60 mm looks mint, have a look at frankie640's thread, he's done 60 all round and it looks the tits.

Am down 60 mm front and about 40-50mm on the back but am on uprated shocks its a firm ride though mate!! my brother was down 60 front and 80 mm on the back standard shocks bumpy as fook but looked and handled like a fooking dream m8!!
  12. #12
    you should be fine mate
  13. #13
Go shocks. I have a Spax full kit and its well worth the investment
  14. #14
im 50 mm on apex shocks and front springs
and its a bumpy ride with that even
  15. #15
    cos apex arnt all that.
  16. #16
Im 60 mm lowered on the standard shocks at the front. Not as good as my old saxo with the coilovers but it still handles pretty well. Think I'm siting about 40ish at the back too and I'd say its a good combo for handling.

Be too much travel on the shocks, mate had his corsa on 40-60mm springs no shocks and ripped his bumper off going round bend from so much lean too lol

doubt be that harsh on a VT* but best get shocks aye much better, oh and with 60mm get the power steering pipe altered b4 it bursts

am thinkin of lowering mine 60mm aswel. how bad is it on speed bumps though?
  20. #20
    or in multi story carparks???
  21. #21
Depends how big the speed bump is, and never had an issue with multistorey car parks.

My magnex silencer used to scrape a bit, but since I removed at haven't heard it scrape once.

what kind of beast? i presume a mystical 3 legged beast that walks with a limp...

60 your handling will be utter shit. with standard shocks its going to be bump as fuck, you will feel like a shitting dog when driving you shake that much. standard shocks will not last long with this, and your driveshafts will also be under alot more pressure and will cause problems, also your power steering pipe...

multi storey car parks some you will scrape some you wont, if you have a aftermarket exhaust you may find that that will scrape

speed bumps will also be anight mare

the power steering pump just needs bending out the way, there will be pictures on here somewhere

Driveshafts (i think) are at differnet angle than standard so rub against the pipe. even me suspension kit had a warning about it. didnt read it though lol

Ended up with me leaking some fluid and then it pissed it all out in tesco car park, just as i went to park up the steering locked up went really heavy and if i didnt slam on would have hit the car as i couldnt steer due to shock and how heavy it went suddenly.

drove home and got lift back to work on me dinner doh! damn good workout for your arms lol

    60mm for the win muhahahahaha
  26. #26
ignore all that stuff with power stearing, it only applys on the mark 2's !

reply to d-man, you'll have trouble with 'some' speed humps and 'some' multi-stories if you go down 60mm.

thats ok then one worry off my mind
will defo change the shocks tho i think
