Calling all Mk2 Owners!

ok so simple question really, as your looking at ur engine bay, where the manifold is, there is like a round housing to the right of the manifold, is this where the oil filter is?

my mate said it could be the ERG? and if it is the ERG can it be taken off?

    many thanks!

Should be in Engine/Queries sections, but it sounds like it will be the EGR. On some cars like Fords they can be removed but require a bit of welding to the manifold but not sure about the saxo.

If it's an early mk 2 there won't be an egr

No, that is at the base of the block next to the manifold. The black circular thing above the mani is an EGR

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhaust_gas_recirculation

If you look at some MK2 vts engines they recirculate the exhaust gasses so that they reduce emmissions from a cold start

he is on about the oil filter relocation pipe that all the 98bhp vtr engines came with

so yes its where your paper oil filter is housed mate

no he isn't, as he stated "vts owners".

it is what some call the EGR valve, but this isn't its correct name, cant remember what it is, but rushy knows.

search EGR VALVE mate, covered quite alot.

where did he ever state vts owners?

he says mk2 owners nothign about the vts mate

the EGR valve is directly above the manifold so he aint asking about that

the oil filter pipe is to the right of the manifold so im pretty sure her is talking about that

    *fills with smugness* lol

vts doesnt have an EGR valve anyway, not sure what the term for it is but it only flows air not exhaust gases into the head and only does so for a short time on cold start up so IMO not even worth removing unless its to creat more room
  12. #12
Don't want to sound like I'm correcting you scott but the late VTS's do have an EGR system.
  13. #13
Honest they dont. It does not recirulate exhaust gases it pumps air into the head at start up, at no point is it connected to the exhaust system hence why they can be removed so easily its only the hole at the side of the head that needs blocked.

I also had a late vts

I'm shit! Sorry *hangs head in shame*

For all intents and purposes EGR valve is close enough it essentially does the same thing just minus the actual exhaust gases
