vts wheel polishing

   hi people
   
   im having my vts rims sand blasted to take them back to meatal and the plan was just to re spray them, however have started thing about polishing them.
   
   anybody know how i would go about this? would the same technique you would use for the rocker covers work? 400 grade wet and dry and work upto 1200 then use that polish cream stuff and have it buffed to a shine.
   
   would i need to laquer the finished surface to protect? any info would be great as im a tad unsure on few things

   in the guide he doesnt laguer them after. i really want to do this to protect them etc. does anyone know wat laquer and how many coats etc??
