Anyone which one is best for popping flames on a vtr mrk2?
Best exhuast system that will pop flames

#2you'd want a de-cat to be able to pop flames. Mine pops flames when I change down gears from 4th to 3rd and also 3rd to 1st. I have a supersprint race centre section, de-cat supersprint manifold and backbox.
You want a stainless steel exhaust system along with de-cat and then it should pop flames but there's no guarantee. It either does or it doesn't... -
#4might need a manifold buddy as you might have the cat in the manifold.
Its not great to pop flames, pretty much means your cars overfuelling... -
#5just get a flamer kit lol.?
-
#6because im wondering which exhuast will do it so i can buy one

#7OK, I'll refine the question.Quote:because im wondering which exhuast will do it so i can buy one
Why do you want an exhaust to pop flames?
I think the majority of car enthusaists will struggle to promulgate a cogent argument as to why popping flames from a road going car is a good thing.

#8Lol, it does look quite cool at night when your going along the dual carriageway
. My old 205gti used to flame amazingly, lol, but that was overfuelling big time. At one point i spent £20 to get me 50miles, lol.

#10my nova sr used to pop flames with a full s/s system, mongoose or magnex i cba to remember, either way these days its like having lexus lights, basically you just look a twat, & doesn't benefit the car at all !
-
#11you might get a small flame if the car chucks unburnt fuel into the exhaust on overrun.
Basically you'd be after a straight through system, no cat, no baffled silencers. No guarantees this will do anything though. Its not going to turn into a World Rally car
If you are seriously after flames then you either need to go the chavvy flamer kit route (cheap) or have a highly tuned N/a / turbo setup (not cheap). Flames on a tuned car are a byproduct of, not a desired option. -
#12id just concentrate on getting a nice exhaust system and not worry about the popping part. mine pops every so offen but it wasnt the reason i got an exhaust system.
-
#13Its all about getting fuel in and out as fast as possible. So thats why flames are apparent because the ecu still chucks a little bit in and its unburnt, so it ignites on the exhaust because its hot.
The pops are not actually flames, there just hot air escaping.
P.s. Vidal is ace

#14i get nice amounts of back popping when changing down gears
or cruising in 3rd or 4th with no throttle
but back firing or flames onlky look good on a race track if you ask me -
#15get a remap n a full system decat
-
#16The point of a remap is to get your car to run better with mods like cams or a turbo so I don't see how remapping a car without any serious modifications will do any good?
-
#18^^ agree

#19i had one on an old astra of mine, i got pulled by the pigs for melting thier front splitter when i pulled off. made me pay for the damage to the car but got off with a warning. they aint worth the money if you ask me. i'v still got the flamer kit in the garage. yours if you want it. i sure aint fitting it again cost to much fixing my car (singed bumper) and fixing coppers car.

#21I saw a Escort Cossie spit a flame down the lanes near me and also a subaru impreza down the dual carriageway. Made me jump!...IMO it doesn't look that cool on a saxo...
