Fitting carb on injection head

  1. #1
Hello, i have just got myself a 1400 saxo engine to put in my pug 205, when i got the engine it did not come with the ecu, but i was going to bolt my carb on it anyway, but after looking at the engine, the head has the holes in it for the injectors, can i still bolt the my old 1400 carb on from the manifold and leave the injectors in place? if not i was thinking about putting the tvs 16 valve head on it if it fits. any advice would be helpful, Thanks

i wouldn't tbh, you will get alot of running problems, plus emitions will be a nightmare and chances are you wont pass them.

right thne m8 what manifold are you using i take it will be the one off your 205?

depends how old his 205 is it may not have to meet new emissions regs and you could always adjust the mixture screw and have it running lean for the emissions

    true, true.

but to get the engine running well, it would be esier to use the intake setup off a 1400 saxo, or get some cheap gsxr600 bodies.

i totally agree mate and with abit of tuning it would have the potential for some good power but if that is what they want to do i am more then happy to try and give them advice.

Seems like you think along the lines as me mate n/a on bodies is the best power around in my opinion

yeah, high revving N/A cars are awesome imo.

I will be using my 205 manifold, it will fit on the head, but the head has the holes in it for the injectors, how can i block them? thats why i was saying about leaving the injectors in it.

not a bad idea, dont know why i didnt think of it, lol, but would you know if i could fit the 16 valve tvs head on the 1400 bottom end?

or would it not be worth it as i am going to supercharge it.

I want some power but also what to stay under 1400cc for road tax reason's.

The 1360 MPI TU will not fit the inlet off the early carb engine. So no you can not just bolt the carb on. Also they have no fuel pump drive and no dizy. So it gets a little complicated.

Fitting a 16V head is quite complicated more so on a alloy block engine. Cam belt rollers and piston shape are problems for starters.

It can be done both ways, its just complicated and the cost mounts up.

proberly better just running the whole saxo set-up then i suppose and it could also work out cheaper in the long run

So are you saying my best idea is to find myself a 8 valve xs or ax head to fit it on the 1400 bottom end and then bolt the carb on ?

Never tried that. But it may work ok. Just looks to see if the valves clear the pistons.

this has all become a bit of a bad dream for me, i was just going to buy a 1400 saxo engine and bolt my carb on, and supercharger on, and later when cash is not so tight, add a kent cam.
Am i right in saying that saxo have a single point injection head, that i could just swap then bolt my carb on, or has the single point also got no dizzy ?
    Thanks
