Expected bhp from a vtr with...

Well, getting close to a big pay for myself and looking at tuning the car up over the winter ready for early spring track days.

So far brakes + suspension is almost done just got to upgrade the pads and rear discs + a new lower strut.

Anyway as far as performance goes im a rookie at saxos but understand most from my corsa days and im unsure what the vtr's gain in power.

By spring the engine will be running the following:

    BMC CDA
    Supersprint 4-2-1 (heat wrapped)
    Decat
    Magnex backbox/ss system
Cam kit including new belt, pulley etc etc
    Skimmed head
    Short shift (b&m)
    Black dimond clutch
re-map with rev limit increased to 7000rpm.

With a couple of small little bits such as new mounts etc.

Now its the 2000 plate W reg early silver top (90bhp) version.

So anyone running similar? and what power are people running with a similar set up. Just trying to get an idea of the power people gain with vtrs.

And yes alot would say drop a VTS engine in but ill do that at a later stage.

    Cheers for any feed back.

Thank you, hopefully get her booked into ABP motorsport ready for spring.

Will also be fully stripped, carbon bonnet and mirrors so a little lighter than normal.

Need a winter drifting car lol.

    i rekon the same 120 + or - 1or 2 bhp either way....

Cant see the b&m adding power lmao
still pull like a fucking train be emense to drive i rekon
i wouldnt bother spending all that money then dropping an s engine in, just leave it at that sell it and buy a VTS if you still want one

no point in raising rpm limiter with standard cam. and why bother doing all that if your gunna put a vts engine in at a later stage? do things right 1st time and you'll save a lot of money.

The vts won't go in for another two years.

Will run the vtr for awhile but the shell has no rust so when the vtr has very high milage ill just swap the engines over.

Well hopefully should run well, will get ABP to look at some other bits and try and creep the bhp out a little.

the B&M is special of course it will add power :o

I won't be running a standard cam is said in the 1st part of this topic.

Will be at least a year and a half before ill be looking into a vts engine.

If it was a early engine. I would say depending on the cam profile you opt for and how well its mapped I would imagine over 125bhp would be possible. If you get the head ported when its off over 130bhp should be no problem to get. But its a later engine so don’t really know.

If you have the black diamond clutch already don’t worry about it, but really there just over priced stock replacement items and not worth the price.

Thanks for your info! will look around still, clutch will be one of the last things replaced.

std valeo clutches over a black diamond £ for £ any day imo

I had a mk1 vtr black top with the above mods it made 120bhp it got beat by a vts.

But however i later found out that the cylinder head had not been toqued down to the correct setting and was loose so not sure if this affected things in anyway maybe someone could let me know if it did?

VTS has more torque and a better gearbox stiffler
