ax gt gearbox in vts

   i mite beable to get an ax gt gearbox for quite cheap, i been told it will fit in a vts. would it be worth changing the vts box for it, would it improve my acceleration?

   irc the ax gti is the same as the 106 xsi.

   the 106 xsi is similar to the s1 rallye isnt it.....hopefully i will be dropping it in mine depending on price he wants for it

   the gearboxes are best in this order. ax gti - then the s1 rallye - then the 1.4 xsi.

   does anyone know if you need to get a different length driveshaft to go in the passenger side if you fit any of these boxes?

   i've fitted a 1.3 rallye box in my vts and im using the vts shafts.

   do you have any specs to show this, as far as im aware the s1 rallye had the best final drive using the same sports gearset. and the xsi is the same as the ax
   
   also to the other lad, the s1 rallye is not the same as the xsi, theres a bit of a difference.

    The GT has a sport cluster and short final drive (roughly 4.29)
    
    BUT make sure its a post 91 box, mk2; the mk1 boxes have a different bellhousing to block bolt pattern, and though theyll fit, not all the bolts will go in.

    Could you tell me what gearboxe's fit streight to 1.6 16v VTS engine? I am interester in 1.6 8v 106 rally box, 1.3 rally 106, 1.4 xsi. Do they fit streight or need some modifications?

    i believe there all straight fit mate

    correct. Any Saxo or 106 box will fit.

    Either is effectively the same box. Some people say some GT boxes came with an S1 type FD, but Ive never actually seen one with that.
    
    Either will be shorter than VTS by a wee bit, as I say just make sure its a mk2 AX box.

    mk2 ax usually K and L reg onwards
