Lowering...?

  1. #1
What comes in a saxo lowering kit...
    Springs and shocks (front).. x2
    Shocks for the rear x2
Is it possible to do the lowering on the cheap...(sacrifice handling a little)#
and just purchase front springs and get the rear torsion bar lowered?
Is it essential to get new front shocks/dampers for the new springs?
Any lowering adice would be appreciated...
    35mm drop please

i think you can lower up to 40mm on just springs mate, but anymore you will need a full kit... not 100% sure tho

    ^^ correct!

Go for 40mm mate mine is lowered 35mm and there is still a gap am running 35mm p.i springs and apex front and rear shocks its a firm ride mate so stick to your old shocks just remember to slow down for speed humps otherwise you will prob catch wih standard shocks and yes you def sacrifice handling because the standard shocks compress at different rates to the much stiffer springs ( depeding on the type purchased some are designed to run with standard springs down to 40mm) all the best my suspension was fitted by my father just getting round to trying the torsion bar again dont come much cheaper than that mate

Got mine lowered 50mm with just new springs up front and the torsion bar dropped a bit to match. No problems with mine except the harsh ride!

Sounds good....i really wanna go for the full kit so i can whip my mates round the streets....however need the cash for other mods too...
Is the difference with a performance kit really noticeable??? im betting it is...
    Verdict??

Blimey....your a low rider...thats rules out picking the slags up from night clubs and taking the 4 of them back to your place....handling must be nice but i need to take people aboot.....
Im gunna be a pussy and drop 35mm on 16"'s
    its aboot compromise...thats life

if you want handling get a full kit. If you want looks just get it lowered with springs.

    good tip

doh.. i was told if u lower up to 40mm on springs it gives same handlin as a whole kit? but below that you would lose handling and a kit is a must?
  13. #13
who the told you that bollocks??

Even lowering 40mm should require new dampers, its the cheap way to skip dampers and it will not handle as well with out new rated dampers
  14. #14
be a bumpier ride , will feel bumps more without new dampers.

just to avoid starting a new thread - do u think my wheels will rub if i stick a full lowering kit on at bout 50mm?? i am running 15 inch wheels atm with 45's on. I do take the occasional couple of passengers too. Also - a mate lowered a corsa (tut tut) and although the springs claimed a 40 mm drop it was bull, max 32mm if that. Is this common? Again, sorry to hijack jonny.

sorry to hijack??? it's 3 years old you numpty.

You can lower any amount with out dampers... very unwise though imo

id up rate dampers and springs at same time, makes sense tbh.

    just saw dates

ha ha good point Danr - no harm in being polite (thats what my mum always taught me) anyway - down to buisness - one pay day comes in i have a Spax lowering kit eyed up (the full job with uprated dampers etc, wouldnt trust the Cit orginal dampers tbh) Just do i go for a 40 or 50 mm drop? i dont wana have wheels rubbing in lock etc and wana take a couple of people every so often. But that said my local garage hu have had to do A LOT of work to it in the past said i should drop it to the floor (60 or so mm). So yeah, long winded but just a bit of advice etc.

40mm in my opinion, looks and best of handling... much more than 40 down it's pointless, you don't gain anything apart from scraping your ass over bumps.

got some 60mm lowering springs how much am i looking to pay to get them fitted just the springs
