Manifold problems..

  1. #1
    Hi

    I've just built a saxo VTS to use as a tarmac and navigational rally car to which I fitted a Raceland manifold. Because of the length of the downpipes I had to space my sump guard down just over an inch to stop them touching. Problem is with the current set up I'm catching the sump guard on a pretty regular basis yet I'm reluctant to alter the suspension setup as it's now working really well. Does anyone know if any other performance manifolds are slightly shorter and will be more flush with the sump? I have an event on the 30th and I really need to get this sorted.. Might even have to fit a standard one, which I don't have either!!? Any help would be great.

    dont know of any others that fit tighter to the sump but my raceland seems to sit fairly flush compared to others that ive seen. ive got a standard manifold u can buy if u need it

    What other manifolds are available other than Raceland?

    piper, supersprint, gmc, are all the top 1's to get m8 for a VTS

    the piper hangs lower from memory..

    Are they all 4-2-1 manifolds, and does anyone know how they compare in price to the Raceland?

    Thanks a lot

    i think 4-1 is better for a vts from what iv read, i think there all 4-1 manifolds but i havent looked into them as iv stuck wit the raceland as been very happy with it

    piper= 4-1 and is around £270
    supersprint= 4-2-1 and again around about £270 maybe abit more

    Generally, 4-1 manifolds will sit lower to the ground than 421 manifolds. I would steer clear of any 4-1 setups for this reason. The Raceland manifold is about as cheap as they come... But it works.

    That's not correct at all! The general consensus is that 421 will offer a slight improvement in the midrage, whereas 4-1 manifolds will give up a little in the midrage to help top end. I don't think with the VTS you would notice much difference to be fair, so it's probably worth sticking with the 421 setup in the hope that you don't lose out in the mid range at all.
