  1. #1
hey ive spent loadza cash on my saxo vts and its runnin 165bhp but its not quick enough! so im wondering if ne1 knows if a xsara vts engine will fit!? as they push out 170bhp standerd and alot more torque!!!!

    please help if u can!?

also if or should i say wen i attemp the conversion ill b selling my engine, gear box, ecu, wiring loom and exhaust system if ne1 is interested!? its done 56k to this date!

all of this has cost me bout £2500
    so sensible offers please!

    nope...
will not fit.. will need serios bonnet and arch/slam panel mods.... if you do want to make it fit = big bucks!
and the weight of that engine if you do get it in will fuck up the great handling of the small front wheel drive saxo anyway.

ok m8 cheers 4 that! im willing 2 do whateva it takes for it 2 fit!

Someone did once try it and spend tens of thousands trying, but gave up in the end.
Like I said aswell though.. it just isnt that practical, as it will handle like a shed ontop of a 2CV..

ok ill give it a miss then! lol!

do u kno of ne tunning centre that can super charge or turbo a saxo? and re-build the bottem end!?

Might want to loose the cams though dont want all that boost flying out the exhaust ports before they close

I think you will get one in there, although it will need lots of body work.

as for the handling, if you go for coilovers and compensate for the higher weight in the front with a higher rated spring i think you'll be ok, if you can get the weight of the old engine and the new I'll have a look at the possible front spring rate you'd need.

Im sure it will go in there, if a 2.2 Honda Prelude engine will fit then im sure that can!!

I dont know the spec of you car atm, but for the money its gonna cost you and the trouble of buying and selling, surely turboin the car will give you some gains

Although i'd think 160bhp through the front wheels wouldn't be too disapointing ;o

prey tell Mr Streetz, what's all this prelude motor talk?

I'd be keen to look into this further as I'm quite sure there's beter motors out there to transplant, but we, as a group (the whole saxo sceen), have been a little snoby and scared when it comes to using other makes.

    a prelude in a saxo???surley not???
  13. #13
I was considering gettin a turbo fitted so i popped to V-Spec Performance in South Wales. Didnt know at the time but they specialised in Hondas!

I would never have thought of it but apparently they tried the Prelude 2.2 VSpec engine in a saxo a while ago...the plan didnt go through as the boy who wanted it couldnt raise the case in the end.

Anyway, they told me all measurments had been taken and it was a case of millimeteres to spare! So its a VERY tight fit but ive been told it will go in without wide arches.

Dunno about you lot but id be very happy with that engine in my Saxo, cant afford it now as spent my cash in other ways (ull see) Apart from the fact it wunt handle the best think of the fun you could have...it would be stupidly quick.

    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Go onto cruisenotts.com and ask about the bloke with the Xsara VTS engined saxo

    I have seen it.

It looks gorgeous, he nitroused it too. Shame the silly arse didnt uprate the brakes on his 1.1 saxo before fitting the engine. He burnt out the brakes and wrote it off about a year ago.

He has now done the same thing again to his latest 1.1 saxo but STILL hasnt uprated the brakes.

    Idiot.
  15. #15
any idea how much it cost him to do it Sam ?
  16. #16
must be pretty quick then!must of cost alot!
  17. #17
i think it was a case of just replacing the gearbox, the clutch and dropping the engine in.

So, cost of the xsara gearbox, cost of the xsara vts engine. and the time it takes to hook everything up.

it was at a bit of a backward slant tho, so I think that was done so that it would fit in the bay.

    cool!!!!
will the loom have 2 b changed aswell!?

There is a movie of a Turbo Saxo with a 306 GTI engine...
  20. #20
    Im in love!
    That thing is awesome !!!
  21. #21
    i want one!

    thats awesome
  22. #22
My mistake.. it's not a 306 engine. This is a 2.0turbo engine from Pug 806 and Cit Xantia, XM. Anyway the best thing is that it looks almost like a standard one...
  23. #23
That car is quality and yeh the best thing is it looks pretty much standard not like sumin that fell out of a cereal box.
  24. #24
    PUG 806!
    wow

Saxorulez: Any more info on this car ? engine work in progress? Idea on how much was spent?
  25. #25
Well, as I know it's about 240HP engine. I'll try to find out how much he spent on that... Anyway I'm just wondering how is he able to put those horses on the street with standard 14" wheels and standard tyres
  26. #26
Spins up quite a lot in the vid!
  27. #27
the vid is really crappy i think it gives absoultely no indication of how fast it is or anything, and my french is really poor nowadays

as per a post further up, if the 306/xsara engine just dropped right in we would all be doing it, it defo doesnt just drop straight in, custom driveshafts being one of the things of a number to name that would need to be made
  28. #28
I think that he have change a lot in a front suspension.. In my opinion front wheels are wider tha normall.
