engine probs

   got a 1997 vts on about 80,000 miles the head is quite tappy and also appears to have a grumble on the bottom end also quite heavy on fuel just wondered if you could shed some light on the problem i.e new engine also how much could i pick one up for

   Get a mechanic to have a quick listen if not then...
   
   Give it a good service - plugs, total oil flush, filters the whole works, make sure you put the correct oil in (dont ask me what that would be as i dont own a saxo yet) might be something more serious though, but these engines are pretty tough little cookies!

   If it's tappy it could be because oil changes have been skipped. Change it every 5k at least with a good 10W-40 or 5W-40 oil.
   
   As for the 'grumble', could be anything. Would need to hear it.
