ah right i got this off a website it says 1997-2003 though i know it ain't right though
  8. #8
Think its about 9.9 for the 90bhp one and 9.1 for the 98
  9. #9
Wouldnt think it was that much of a difference tbh. The MK1s are supposedly lighter by a fraction, and the MK2 with 98 brake has a more restrictive exhuast system hence the extra power so theyre both gonna be basically the same
  10. #10
The figures i put above were from Parkers... just checked them, its defo 9.9s and 9.1s...

Says it all really parkers are well out. They think that a VTS is over a second quicker than a 106 GTi iirc
  12. #12
Most places on the internet say the updated version is slightly quicker, though.

    i really wish this was true . . . .
  14. #14
Yeh ive seen that about the VTS being quicker, i cant see why though same engine

    But is it really true?

    Nope. Exactly the same

And imo the way the cars been treated, eg serviced properly, not ragged from cold, will have a much bigger difference on how quick it is than whether its the 90/98brake lump anyway
  16. #16
A standard 90BHP VTR takes just under 10 seconds to 60mph

thats because peugeot tested the GTI with 3 passengers and 50kgs of luggage in the boot. so peugeot deliberatly made it appear slower to drive the insurance down.

    gti grp 12 (i think)
    vts grp 14
  18. #18
    GTI is 13 jonezy.
  19. #19
    yeah group 13.
  20. #20
the vts is quicker than i 106 gti. Theres a differnt gearbox in them. From what ive been told the gti will not do 60 in second gear
  21. #21
so a vts does 60 in 2nd? (gps verified)
  22. #22
ah crap.... how the hell do you edit your previous posts?????

try evo magazine for proper times, they have the tried and tested methods in bold numbers and factory "claims" in normal text

a vtr can do 60 in second
  24. #24
a vts can do about 65mph in 2nd im sure
  25. #25
This has come up many times before but a VTR can't reach 60 in 2nd despite the speedo saying otherwise. The VTS can do 60 in 2nd
  26. #26
On a Standard VTS limiter (7,250 RPM)
    with a VTS gearbox.
a VTS will do 62mph in 2nd gear.

a VTR on a standard VTR limiter,
    with a Standard VTR box,
will fall short of 60 in 2nd gear.

    That is all.

Nope Vts & Gti same gearbox! Same Engine, Same rev limiter so both do a true 60 in 2nd gear!

    Good post
people that argue that a completely standard VTR out of the factory can do 60 in 2nd gear, they believe their dials far far too much..
  32. #32
im nearly sure that the gti has different gear ratio's compared to the vts
  33. #33
lol. Depends on all sorts, road conditions, if the cars been very well kept, the driver of the particular car etc.
    Arguement could go on lol.
Parkers say 9.1 for the vtr. I'd say thats correct but depending how well you keep your car it'll be better. Roughy i have averaged 8.5 for mine over the past few months but all depends ... i could be wrong lol
  34. #34
Whats the ratio of bhp to 0 to 60, if that makes sense...??

    I.e. standard car; 9.1secs
    performace zorst; 8.6secs??
    Enclosed Filter; 8.3secs??
    Decat manifold??
    Cams??
    Remap??

How much difference would it actually make to 0 to 60 times with different mods??
