bore exhaust/back box question?

  1. #1
hi all im thinking of getting a back box for my saxo vts. my question is will a 4 " or more back box sound nice and loud and legal for mot. im trying to find out before i do this weather to wait for abit when me moneys built up and get a straight throught bore exhaust system or would a back box give off a nice sound with out having to go to the extreme paying £300+ for a exhaust system. i was looking on the line of this or something a little better and bigger.

please post me some links or info on what i should get or do. many thanks.

a full system would be better mate, piper, magnex, remus, scorpion, supersprint and peco do full system exhausts, the one in the link won't sound as good as a full system.

I'd save up and buy a full system as I'd want to see a small gain in power from an exhuast aswell in a vts. If it's just a loud noise your after though a backbox would do, although the systems listed above will sound better than a universal exhaust imo

hi thanks for the info. how good are magnex back boxes are they a nice sound i found one for a saxo vts just backbox for £140 is there anywhere else you know a bit cheaper. many thanks

a large backbox like that will sound like a fart in a can. Stick with 3" or smaller

i had a 4 inch rear can and it sounded lush tbh and most others thought so too.

but go for something a bit smaller tbh, if you get it wrong, it'll look gash, mine looked ok as it was a carbon tip and on a black car.

Magnex are built for performance, they aren't much louder than the standard exhaust. And you won't see much, if any performance from a backbox alone. If it's something loud you want go for piper or peco or the likes.

Out of the two piper or peco which is the better one for sound and looks that will look nice on a blue saxo vts 1.6 16v. im in several minds on what to get. ive seen the peco c3 on youtube someone demoing it and it sounds nice but theres the other of peco like a jap can that is another one on my mind and whether i should go for a slash cut 4" or straight cut. i really dont know what to do. please post what you think back cheers. please post videos or pics that help me decide many thanks ben

    piper is alot better.

get a piper 4" slash cut, it sits nicely in the bumper and sounds really good when ya boot it, not too loud when driving slow either..
