they will come off mate, cutting them, depends where they are cut but defeats the object if you cut them near the top, try and get the full thin out

So if I got to Halfords tonight and buy a 22mm or 7/8th and 3/4" grommet I'll be able to use that to dewiper?

Sorry for going a little off-topic, I just didn't want to make a new thread for this.
  22. #22
When I de-wipered one of my old ones, I used the Pug 106 bits. Its only 5 or 6 quid I think?

Yes you will mate, I did mine the other day and it looks mint!
  24. #24
Lol and you just have to give the wiper a (careful) yank to get it out?

Going to get mine done tonight.
  25. #25
I hacksawed the wiper off mine mate! Was stuck fast and was worried about smashing/cracking the glass! Was really easy job mate and looks the sex.

i did that for abit then thought it lookd minging, my advice is de-wiper it properly it isnt that hard once you get the boot plastic behind the boot off
  31. #31
I did de-wiper it properly mate, I was saying i had to hacksaw the wiperblade part off to get the motor out the back!
  32. #32
Odd question... In Davids picture, the pin hole is round - so a round grommit fits, however, my pins (and the relevant holes) are more a squarey (new word ) oval shape?
  33. #33
yeah i used round grommits for mine when i de pinned it and it works ok think they where 9mm ones something like that does not look factory fitted but does the job well. like davids in pic above
  34. #34
Aye, it does look round but you squeeze them in and they fit alright.
  35. #35
i have one question about depinning ?! how can i adjust that it locks the door when i drive by itself, because if i depinn how can i lock the door from inside ??
  36. #36
Need to find somewhere that sells wiper gromits badly
Cant believe GTI ones were discontinued!

Halfords do them... 23mm I think it is...
  38. #38
yeah got mine from halfords for it all.
  39. #39
what is the fob ? i have remote control and i can lock it from inside with it, but than i turn on alarm device on too .. if i do the depinn there is no way i can lock from inside ?
  40. #40
The keyfob is the bit you use to unlock/lock it... Honestly, you cna use that. I do it all the time. Get in the car with the engine running, and press the lock button to try it. It'll be fine mate.
  41. #41
the problem is that i have it with alarm control all in one, and when i lock it, alarm is armed too
  42. #42
My alarm is the same. But then the engine is running, the alarm doesn't activate on mine, it just locks... Maybe it's different on yours?
  43. #43
yeah this is some aftermarket alarm, but i ll try it and report
  44. #44
I wish I could do this =( But it would mean I'd have to lock the passenger side from the outside with the key =(

    How'd it go mate...?
  46. #46
ther is a gromet in the boot that will fit perfectly in the rear window i had to do this as they had sold out at my local
  47. #47
    Nope, all the same mate.
  48. #48
to let everyone no that halfords have changed the style of gromit for the listed part number HFX214 (13mm) and the style thay have changed it to wont fit on the door, gona have to find someware else to get it from
  49. #49
i got them yeastoday, thay now comme in a box not a bag (yes the right part number/size)
thay arnt smoth now thay look like shit with a huge indent in both sides
  50. #50
cheers brv i fornd 2 from my old 205gti in the shed and thay fitted perfect, just wont to let people no befor thay but them, in the pack it looked like the back of the gromet so didnt think anythink of it, but thay look like that both sides
  51. #51
If there anywhere you can get door pins that sit flush with the door when the car is locked?
  52. #52
So its 1 13mm grommit? I'll just go get one from a motorshop for about 20p instead of halfords... complete rip off
  53. #53
do you need to take the doorcards off when doing this? is there a guide anywhere on the site ? cheers
  54. #54
Just been to Halfords today, and got the grommets, just to let people know there not in a bag anymore there in a box, and they are now £1.79
  55. #55
do they look like the ones in the picture on page 1 mate? wanting to get these tommorow ? prob go to halfords.
  56. #56
just went to halford got the 13mm ones cost like 1.50 for the bag, they didnt want to go in so i got some small long nose plyers pinch the rubber into a rectangular shape for a few minutes till they kind of sent the push them in the hole they fit like a treat !
  57. #57
great thread saves me measuring them up now
  58. #58
thanks mate. tried twisting the door pin off the rod with mole grips but wasn't budging so just cut it. i did find though if you use those grommets from halfords use 2 in each slot. 1 to budge up againts the little plastic notches and the other to sit on top, much more secure that way and you cant push it down and it won't drop into the door card
  59. #59
so to take the pins out all you do is yank the shit out the pins then fit the grommet job done?
