Resistors to stop airbag light...

  1. #1
Putting bucket seats in my VTS, the airbag pretensioners are obviously under my seats,
    Ive been sent some resistors,
    where do these go?
how do I put them in/on?

    help appreciated...

not 100% sure but when you disconnect them there is an orange connector with two holes in it, all you need to do is push the resistor legs into these holes and it fulls it into thinking the airbag is still installed.

    hope this helps

just leave the tensioners under the seat
  4. #4
I have left them under the seat I think?

just wanted to know where to put the resistors?
  5. #5
    take the airbag bulb out

really can't think how mine are set up lmao. Could go have a look if you want?

One is connected to a wire and other is tucked down the wire casing it seems lol, i duno as i didn't do it lol

what to do, is cut the plug off the wire coming threw from under the carpet, so your left with 2 wires. then put the wires in connetor strip seperatly. then put one leg off the resistor in with one wire. then the other leg off the resistor with the other wire. problem solved. start the car and the airbag light should go out. then just tuck the cable under the carpet.

soulless - hope you like them mate.

don't cut the connector off, what you should do is bend the wires so they are at 90' to the resistor and parallel to each other, then look at the connector at you'll see it has two holes/slits, push the legs of the resistor so one leg goes down each hole/slit, this needs to be done with all the connectors.

then job done, the airbag light wont come on, but the front airbags will work as there is no fault detected in the system.

So just push the legs of the resistors into the plugs which have 2 holes?
so in total ill need 4 resistors?
  11. #11
yep, spot on mate, i think i sent you 4 anyway.

will take a pic on my mobile and text it to you later.
  12. #12
Yeah? cool. Ill try it tonight.

    Remove the dash bulb..

    i wouldn't do that tbh.

if you remove the bulb, then there is still a fault in the system and the remaining air bags wont deploy in a crash, and thats not good.

if you put a resistor in to the circuit (has to be the right resistor), it creates the effect of the airbag and pre-tensioner still being in place, so the air bag ecu thinks they are all ok.

then if you have a crash the front airbags will go off and the resistors will blow.

is the best/only option unless you remove the whole system.

what rating are the resistors? as my light keeps flashing due to a dodgy conector under my seat.
  16. #16
to stop the flashing just disconnect, and give them a light squirt of wd40 and then re-connect, then they should be ok.

only really need to use the resistors if your removing the standard airbagged vts seats, as if you use resistors, the seat air bags won't work.

    but i think they are 1.8 ohm's.

airbag systems all look for 2ohms. so idealy you want a 2ohm resistor per seat. if you can`t get 2ohm resistors you can use 1.7ohm or 2.2ohm resistors, no more/no less. all work as ive used them all.

the wires under the seat in a VTS, there are two orange wires and one green wire. With the two orange wires do they BOTH need to be connected to 2ohm resistors?
