vtr rally cam

    hi lads just bought a rally spec cam off mate, brand new 100quid bought it for price. dont know what it is etc but its a hell of a lift, he says theres more bits to come so i dont know what he means more bits. if it comes without a vernier can it still run correct or will it through my valves into oblivion?? took the old engine out yesterday so just hunting around now for another one. whats best clutch to get aswell as supercharging is going to be next big step.

    u will need to get it chipped or sort the fuelling out cos it will run weak and just move existing power up the rev range 2 wear u don't need it

    youll want vernier to set up correctly and mapping. first find out what duration etc it has to warrent anything else

    . also if the spec of it is too high it wont run with a charger

    Depending on the cam. But the last rally cam I had also required:
    Large valve clearance cut outs on the pistons,
    Uprated valve springs,
    Vernier pully,
    Solid rockers,
    Shimmed rockers,
    Phosphorus bronze retaining bush,
    Setup and mapped,

    Clutch will depend on what you want to do. But for supercharge a AP lug drive is the way to go. But a rally cam will not work very well with the charger.

    ill find out what cam it is tommorow as the lad is bringin it to work for me to have a look at, it should be stamped by right, yer i was thinkin that the charger would be forcing too much in, i might just leave the cam for now and go fast road setup, seems less complicated. as i am just putting the new lump in at the moment and funds are officially scraping my barrel. does anyone know if the uprated gear linkage rods are any good?
