Lowering 40mm-50mm

  1. #1
    Hey,
Planning to loser my vtr about 40-50mm, will this affect the handling? and is 40mm even noticable???
Also ive seen some springs on the net, is this all i need (gettin a mechanic to lower the torsion bar obv) ?? or would u suggest gettin new shocks, etc???

any help wud b gr8 cheerz

Handling is improved greatly by lowering. The cars center of gravity is lower and bodyroll is less apparent in corners.

If you can afford springs and shocks, go for it, it will save you changing the standard shocks in the long run.

Just springs are good for the short term.

    50mm ftw.

eibach sportline springs blistein for shocks but will be more expensive about £324 mark with those springs and shocks on www.kam-racing.com

For everyday driving with a similar level of comfort the Eibach springs are good, Bilstein shocks are brilliant by all accounts to go with those.

If you want to do any trackdays or are looking for a firmer ride the Eibachs would probably not be the best choice as they are a bit too soft- something like GMC ones which arent as low would be better

I would imagine it would be alright.. Tracks surface is usually better than a road anyway but i suppose its all about the correct set up

I just got my VTR on Saturday... wanna get it lowered asap. was planning on dropping it 40mm. Could some one tell me with 40-50mm drop, with standard VTR alloys can u still get full steering lock? or is this minimised? (by much?)... has any one experiencd rubbing with a 40-50mm drop? jus curios... dont wanna be damaging anything!

Also any suggestions for induction kit and prices? im thinkin enclosed is the best idea yea? green?

and finally.. im after a magnex back box. eventually id like to get a full system and then sometime (all depending on money) a 4-2-1 mani... is it ok to work like this.. backbox first then few months later rest of system then few months later the manifold, buying them as i can afford them or what order should i work in?
    Thanks!

Defo get the car lowered first makes all the difference then go for a simota induction kit or a bmc cda probably your best bet buddy hope this helps!

if money is tight and you want the best you can afford then look at the 106 bilstein sprintlines + eibach springs, The kit is cheaper than the saxo kit as its got a smore road orientated front damper..

depends if you really kick the piss out of your car. 50mm and even 40mm will bottom out on country roads. unless you get a real hard setup.
