1.1 lowered, finding alloys that fit...nightmare!

  1. #1
as the title of the thread says, i have a 2000 1.1. got it lowered about a month ago, bought a set of alloys and they were nowhere near fitting so i sold them on. (the guy in halfrauds said they would fit) now ive bought myself a tidy little set of alloys and dont want to have to sell them, they came of my mates vts so i thought it would be pretty straight forward but they are still rubbing a little bit. am i better trying to get the car lifted a bit or should i get some arch work done? cheers guys craig1989

what wheels have you got mate? are they the correct offset? How low is the car?
  3. #3
to be honest with you im not that sure how low it is. i took it to the garage and asked for 35mm but i can almost garuntee it is alot more than that. as for the wheels im not sure what make they are either. as i said got them off my mate. they dont have any writing on them. all i can tell you is they r black multispoke with citroen caps in the middle. lol not alot of help.

they shouldn't be rubbing, how much have you lowered your car?
  14. #14
like i sed up ther ^ i asked for 35mm but can almost garutnee its been done more than that. seems to low, the arch overlaps the wheel quite a bit. is it a hard job to get it lifted back up a bit?
  15. #15
p.s its only the rear arch that is rubbing

would i would do it put the wheel on drive it a few yards down the road and back, jack it up get the wheel off see what its rubbing on, most likely the outside of the wheel on the arch and cut away at it till it stops rubbing. Could maybe some on the bumper bracket

dont do it! lol loads of fukin hassle!

its the shape of the back arches mate, the ones on 1.1s etc are flat not arched like the vtr, vts and furios if you get what i mean, so most alloys rub easily, you need some of the back arches cutting away mate

Nah is it fook lol, you just got unlucky because you got a shit job done. Just got to make sure you know a good reputable mechanic...

50mm is pretty good. Top end is 35mm for performance, and all the way lower to 50mm. Any lower and I read it can be bad for your handling, and for your car too.

Also, about 40mm+ you need uprated struts and dampers.

just grid away the lip inside the rear arches. or get a nice hammer out and bend it inwards and out of the way lol. worked on mine

anything upto 50mm and you will be fine anymore than that you will need to do arch mods.
