FAO folks with Side mounted seats

Just before i place an order with Jeeves, im going to have an attempt at fitting my cobra side mounted sest directly to the floor. Ive got extra plates etc ready fro stengthening, its more the location of the seat im curious about.

Did people sit the seat up on the 'ledge' where the orginal seat mounts too near the handbrake? does the 'door' side of the seat have enough play in the mount to have them at different heights so the seat sits level? (if you follow me?)

Or did you sit the seat off centre and totally on the floor?

You will need to install / weld cross bars which fix like a bridge over the floor pan, as if you just bolted the side mounts to the bottom of the floor pan, you wouldn't be able to see over your steering wheel.

i had them on my mk3 astra bolted straight to the floor but spaced up using box section steel. Just had a look at saxo180's pics thread and he seems to have managed it but i cant work out where the left side of the seat is bolted too.

That's the first one I've ever seen done that way. I wouldn't recommend it.

If the side mounts are bolted to the floor, why can't you work out what's going on with the left side?

ive done it. It was actually very very easy. It was more if the left side mounted up on the tunnel or sat on the floor

As it turns out, The centre side sits perfectly above a stengthening rail on the floor. Add in the 4 mm plate ive added and its rock solid.

The door side again sits over a stengething rail so its worked out really well for a change.
As for hieght, ive got it set midway up the mounts and its perfect. About 2" lower than the standard seat.

That pic of my car, the seat isn't bolted to anything!

It is now on a fixed subframe with the side mounts bolted to the subframe

Hehe, I thought something was up.

Nice sig 180, but there's a small error. Mistaking "you're" and "your" is not incorrect spelling, it's incorrect grammar.

the side mount in that pic is the wrong way about the bigger part of the mount goes the back so its strong enuth to take the force of your weight if your hit.
