MK1 VTR to MK2 VTR?

  1. #1
    hello,

i want to convert my mk1 vtr into a mk2 vtr, apart from the bodywork difference, what engine parts do i need to replace or anything else?

    thanks

erm..... i wouldnt of thought you could do that but it would be easier just to buy the Mrk2 vtr

you may be able to drop a mk2 VTR engine in your mk1! i think!! But you cant simply change a few components over & make a mk2 wannab, mk2's (the quicker1s) have the cat in the down pipe, they have a coil pack instead of HT leads etc etc! little changes that make all the difference, better option would be to sell yours & buy a mk2! if youve put wheels ind kit on etc! it should all bolt on the mk2 anyway.

excuse to go car shopping too!

only the black top engines came with ht leads, all silver tops came with coil packs. Also there is no on road difference between the 90 and 98bhp engine, of which it has never been proved on a rolling road anyway

also you would need the whole thing you could use your existing ecu because the wiring is very different (mk2 has 3 plugs and an extra lambda sensor amoung other things)

has it never bin proven on a rollong road! it must have been proven! its almost 10bhp....! do we have any rolling road days in the pipeline... could be a good oppertunity to see what the real deal is!

yeah id like to see that! would be a good day out!

i could get prices from power enginerring, they did mine, nice guys... rollers r v good also! i know they do group bookings as they did one for the ford focus owners club. (ffoc) ill put a post in a relivant section

then you have to find a pre 99 vtr completely standard and a post 99 vtr completely standard and test them back to back...
