lower brace too low?

  1. #1
just wondering if you think a lower strut brace will be too low for my car, its lowered around 50mm i think, go to prog thread and check out if you think it will be too low

    before i order one

you will catch it on country roads if your going quickly.
and you wont be able to do the speed bumps where your wheels go either side of the bump.
other than that, youll be okay.

can put 1 side of the car onto them speed bumps, and i dont drive quickle round coutry lanes

only 2 speedbumps in whitby anyway lol

mine is down 50mm with a lower strut brace don't catch it much on normal roads or speed bumps just country roads.

alot of people say these make huge improvements to your handling...
Im not sure if i noticed it that much?
  7. #7

  8. #8

i've noticed it's alot better than standard, better handling and feel much comfortable driving with one

yeh i noticed abit with the upper one, not loads though, as my car is already pretty low and stiffened shocks

hoping the lower brace will keep me flatter cornering

im down 50mm and live up a country lane.....took it off in the end, but on normal roads its fine mate

I wanted to fit a lower brace but the recommended Eibach springs drop the car 45-50mm and i thought this was too low for a lower brace?
  13. #13
well im undert the impression it should be ok, as long as you take care

spose if you scrape it abit, your still gona get a good few months outa it and at 25 quid a pop, not much of a loss

My cars low about 60mm and it doesnt really catch to much just on big dips on roads, speed bumps are fine

i've got those springs on mine, it doesn't catch much.

With regards to handling effects, I think it makes more of a noticable difference at standard ride height, purly due to the fact that there is more flexing going on, so the brace takes more of that. Although even if your lowered its a very good modification

i am just wondering... if your down 40mm with a strut brace how much of an impact would cause it to catch on the road excatly?...
  18. #18
a decent size speedbump at speed?

    some hard dips n stuff
  19. #19
its not rly impact its more obscuring objects..

Down 40mm you should be fine, just need to go over those crapy half speed bumps with one wheel on the other off. If your that worried just don't get one. But if you had a brick in the middle of the road you would probably hit it. But obviously you move out the way
  21. #21
lol i hit a stella can other night thinkin it was empty, then heared it come off the exhaust, and just saw it spurt all over
  22. #22
if you drive with one wheel on one wheel off it will still surely scrape?

  26. #26

they're £40 inc p&p on ebay at the moment so it seems a decent investment for the price imo

Nope cause the car is being lifted away from the bump, not having the brace hang with two wheels either side of the speed bump, thus spanking it
