how easy to fit a crankcase seal?

   Got my eye on a 106 gti, but the crank case seal had gone thus leaking, how easy is it to replace?

   well you would obviously have to drain the oil from engine, then unbolt it from bottom end!
   
   clean the facing edges, that the seal meet.
   
   then put on new seal, with a tiny smear of oil along new seal...then bolt the sump back on! and remember to fit a new filter and stick in fresh oil!

   no easy enough, just dirty an time consuming, for pre work and finishing off ie. getting tools out that you need, then jacking up, cleaning the part and fitting it again, letting jack down and tidying up after etc thats the hardest parts!

   which seal is it your replacing?
   
   crank seal, front or rear?
   
   if its rear, brakes off, suspension off, gearbox off, clutch off, driveplate off, sump off. Front no where near as bad!
